I think Melee Fort shouldn't even be in the map list.

It's just like checkers; the first few times you play it it's fun and interesting, but after a while you just wan't vomit your guts out and die in the bile.

And on the topic of nominating, I have to say this:

Most people don't nominate because they either don't know how to do it, or want the natural vote to appear and try out some new map that's not being forced by anyone.

I lieu of new melee fort on the server, I've taken a liking to nominating truly awful maps like Forbidden Forest and Nici's Cool Level right off the bat, to see if people really do one-bash religiously.

Amazingly, only two or three people ever vote for them.

I fully support nominating REALLY horrible maps like that. Horrible maps are quite fun.

It's just that Melee Fort isn't horrible enough. It's boring. Everyone does the same shit OVER AND OVER AGAIN. Engineers keep building mini-sentries, heavies dominate open spaces, it's just stupid and infuriating chaos.

Asylum's melee_fort levels are infinitely better than shit like melee_cube and melee_checkers because most of them have an objective beyond "kill everyone with your melee weapon". They're also larger so they give you more room to improvise, unlike melee_checkers where I just "bind o sm_slay @aim" and stand on a pillar waiting for someone to come at me so I can slay them.

And besides, the best terrible map on the server is arena_gridfloor. It is an abomination, but it is probably the most hilarious abomination I have ever seen.
