Re: Calculated Chaos CEVO Team(s)?
Most of the information can be found here: http://www.cevo.com/index.php?page=foru ... &forumID=2
Basically, Doghouse and I came up with this idea back when Valve first announced CEVO Season 6. We thought that it would be cool if we could have 3 teams; one in each division, but clearly that didn't happen. Even so, we would like it if you gave your opinion on this idea, and not bash/troll the crap out of it like most ideas are. If you're interested in joining, go ahead and message me on steam.

Re: Calculated Chaos CEVO Team(s)?
you guys also need to post what classes you can play.
competitive tf2 is much different that what you are used to. it requires strategy and speed.
it's vanilla tf2 with no crits or weapon spread. if we do start a team i'll gladly join but you must also be available to put time in for practice also. it's no longer about just getting kills/free-for-all like when we mess around in the server. each class plays a specific role.
comp. tf2 classes goes as such:
1-medic
2-scouts
2-soldiers
1-demoman
the medic pockets 1 soldier and the other roams.
the demo and 1 scout work together to set up area of denial traps while the scout protects him. and the other scout protects the soldier and medic.
i'll join.
i career as Medic, but if backup is needed i can switch out for Roaming Soldier.

Re: Calculated Chaos CEVO Team(s)?
I don't comp often, but I understand the basics thanks to TF2lobby and watching matches.
I usually play Pocket Soldier when I lobby, and I've been playing a whole lot of soldier anyway.
You're in, probably as Roaming Soldier, but we might be able to swap Yulond out for soldier or scout.
Ok, roster so far:
Me: Pocket Soldier
Thedoghouse: Demoman
Surnem: Scout
Yulond: Scout
HuRtMePleNtY: Medic
EDIT: (Wha?)
EDIT 2: Ignore that, we should all sign up on the team AFTER the roster is made official.

Re: Calculated Chaos CEVO Team(s)?
this is incredibly tempting...
but there's two problems
first of all, i can't pay
second, well....my parents don't really know i have tf2. so i don't care about a money prize
actually, on second thought, just forget about it.

Re: Calculated Chaos CEVO Team(s)?
Silly toobz, it's FREE to enter this bracket.
Also, Yulond can apparently scout, so Plenty can be the medic. All we need now is Captain/Warmonger/(Insert Name of Another Good Soldier).

Re: Calculated Chaos CEVO Team(s)?
LaN says he's a good soldier, so we'll give him a test run as a Roaming Soldier.
So, the roster right now is:
Me: Pocket Soldier
Yulond: Scout
Surnem: Scout
Thedoghouse: Demoman
Plenty: Medic
LaN: Roaming Soldier
This roster is not permanent in ANY WAY. In fact, EXPECT it to change.

Re: Calculated Chaos CEVO Team(s)?
this is good. once we get a set-in-place roster. we should schedule our first practice.
it should consist of just the basics.
1) an overview to strategies. (nothing in depth)
2) competive play jargon and when to say them.
i.e.
a) when a medic is killed he has "dropped" and should let his team know how long it will take for him to spawn.
b) the names of areas on the map.. like the second point in granery the two outside areas are: the yard, and garage.
c) ect.ect.
3) situational events and roles of each class.

Re: Calculated Chaos CEVO Team(s)?
It's a very good idea to go over these things, seeing as how a large majority of our team isn't used to comp play. All I have to say is "Communication Is Key". If you have a headset or microphone, USE IT. I don't give a damn what you sound like, you need to be talking. If you need healing, don't just spam "Medic". Press it once and tell the medic the general area you're in.

EDIT: Maybe even be a medic for a second team if wee can get more people.

For the best team you need the best players of each class. Unfortunately, the best ones in this community are the least likely to play.

Re: Calculated Chaos CEVO Team(s)?
I would like to apply for phrozen's team. I'm a pretty good scout, pyro, solly or medic.
When is the CEVO tournament anyway? I'd be pretty good, methinks.

Re: Calculated Chaos CEVO Team(s)?
It doesn't say, but I would guess we have to schedule the matches with the other team. Also, these will be the maps we will be playing for the season:
Preseason 1 - koth_ashville
Preseason 2 - cp_coldfront
Week 1 - cp_well
Week 2 - koth_viaduct
Week 3 - cp_prolane
Week 4 - cp_gullywash
Week 5 - cp_gravelpit
Week 6 - cp_granary
Week 7 - cp_badlands
Week 8 - cp_freight
Preseason 1 - koth_ashville
Preseason 2 - cp_coldfront
Week 1 - cp_well
Week 2 - koth_viaduct
Week 3 - cp_prolane
Week 4 - cp_gullywash
Week 5 - cp_gravelpit
Week 6 - cp_granary
Week 7 - cp_badlands
Week 8 - cp_freight

Re: Calculated Chaos CEVO Team(s)?
That shouldn't interfere, and if it does we could find a replacement or reschedule the match.
Also, I HIGHLY, HIGHLY suggest reading through this: http://www.ubercharged.net/how-to-play- ... tf2-guide/
It gives a great overview of how the classes should be handled in competitive play and even looks into the utilities, settings, and recommended FOV (Field Of View). It's worth reading through for sure. The guide IS almost a year old though, so some of these things may overlap to how you play that class already.

I'm interested. Is there a prize for winning?

Re: Calculated Chaos CEVO Team(s)?
In the Professional roster, you get $2,500 for winning.
In the Main roster, you get $1,500 for winning.
In the Amateur roster, you get to have a match against some of the TF2 developers.
"In the communication to CEVO, the Valve TF2 development team claims that the match will be a slaughter but we can't reveal who they think will be slaughtered."

Re: Calculated Chaos CEVO Team(s)?
Pinning Gabe to a wall with an arrow through the head sounds exhillerating. A few questions first, Are we doing Amateur division, and is it free? If it's free, I would like to join the team.
