headsets + mics
headsets + mics
many of you have heard the high-pitched/infested-with-angry-insects noise i get on my mic. i did a bit of messing around with the sound recorder and various settings (there really are not many) in winblows to see if i could get rid of it. no dice. i need to look at something that wont induce headaches for everyone.
this is what im using now. ClearChat my a-s.
whats everyone using for headset mics?

Re: headsets + mics
My mic is a clipon. It used to work really well when I could clip it to my beard but now everyone says it is too quiet. Been meaning to get a new one.

Woah z0th, I'm using the same exact headset as you. It was 20 bucks and also came with a webcam but I gave the cam away to someone. Its a awesome comfy headset and you can change it's colors.
Re: headsets + mics
well, its very possible that its the sound card drivers. ive poked around for updated drivers (SoundMax ADI1988), found a minor update. not sure how much its helped. the only way ill be able to tell if its the mic is to try a different one really.
clip on is a good idea. probably not super expensive either. ive got several sets of headphones (music junkie) to combine with that.

I'm in need of a pair of headphones and mic too. I'll be getting one with my walmart gift card hopefully. I'll have to see what kind works well.

Re: headsets + mics
Most of them will work good enough for a game chat. It's not like you are recording music or something like that.

Could it be a messed up gfx card? When mine was messed up everytime I plugged in my speakers or headset (after changing between the two) it would freeze my computer if it wasn't off or on standby.

Re: headsets + mics
that sounds like a interrupt or possibly a power problem. im not going to say its not something like that, its certainly possible.Beetle wrote:Could it be a messed up gfx card? im using the onboard sound and not an add on PCI card, so consumption and interrupts are factored into the board. i make a point of over buying my PSU, and stick to brand names (antec right now) to avoid these types of problems. i try to keep my drivers as current as possible w/o going to beta.
im down to drivers and mic hardware at this point. all i can do with the drivers is upgrade them to the most current. could be a windows issue as well, but theres pretty much nothing i can do about that. with the mic i gan go out and try another one.
