Video game music

Unread post by g_e_oos »

One of the most important parts of a game, in my opinion, is the music. So I ask you, what is your favorite video game music of all time? whether it be 8 bit or some of the crap coming out now. Also if your favorites are things like Mario or Zelda do you like the 8 bit or the more recent renditions?

Thief II had some pretty cool music.

Kindof hard, industrial... fit the ominous steampunk medieval game pretty well.

Dave Mirra BMX had good tracks, but not 'video game music'
This would be worth money if you had it in writing

The PS1 game Beyond Good and Evil had music in some areas that was so good I would simply sit my character in those areas so I could listen to it while reading or doing the dishes. I still have save points for different tracks.

I later discovered you can download or buy the soundtracks to games, but I find it loses a little something not having to jump your hovercraft boat over a secret rock so you can listen to track 4 on repeat.

Anything from Sonic. Especially the classics and Unleashed.
Am I back?
Who knows?
All I know is that I'm gonna play some more TF2.

BG&E and Chrono Trigger are my favorite video game soundtracks ever. The music that plays when you go to the kingdom of Zeal is a permenant memory.

Final Fantasy 7 had a pretty kick ass soundtrack too. Especially if you listen to the version that is played by orchestra instead of synthesized instruments.
