Friend of mine recently told me about this new series that's either coming out soon, or already has come out, too lazy to look anything about it up even though I probably should.



I will speak in literal terms about this one. Take almost the entire production cast that brought the world Cowboy Bebop, also pretty much my favorite anime series of all time ever, and then put them under the directorship of Shinichiro Watanabe, who brought us such, uh, death-defiling Lovecraftian curiosities as Excel Saga and Puni Puni Poemi.

Shinichiro Watanabe is actually the director of Bebop and Samurai Champloo, not Excel Saga. I think that's a diferent Watanabe. It's a different animation studio to Bebop as well. The studio animating Dandy did FMA and Soul Eater which is still some pretty good pedigree. The OST is being done by Yoko Kanno, the brains behind the Cowboy Bebop OST. It's why that trailer is jukin and jivin like it's got all the right moves.

BIG HONKIN’ TOONAMI ANNOUNCEMENT!

Hey everybody! Just wanted to drop you all a line and announce a couple pieces of Toonami news.

First, we are proud to announce that Toonami will be WORLD PREMIERING the new series from Shinichiro Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo) and Studio BONES (FMA, Soul Eater, many more), SPACE DANDY! SPACE DANDY is a brand new series that will be premiering in the U.S. BEFORE it premieres in Japan (yep, you read that right)! Details on that to follow soon.
Oh, and when will it premiere? Sooner than you think- This January, at 11:30 PM!

Yep, you read that right. Space Dandy will kick off an expanded 6-1/2 HOUR TOONAMI broadcast every Saturday. Toonami Faithful, we got our extra half hour!

Oh, you’re STILL not satisfied? Fine. We have some other great news that will be coming in the next few weeks, but until then we’ll drop one more little tidbit: In December, Toonami will take a break from our regular schedule and have a bit of holiday fun, with three weeks in a row of a movie special to kick off the block! What movies, you ask? Well, you’ll have to wait a bit on that.

So I was recently told about an especially fucked up newish anime that is about as offensive and lewd as they get, called Maria Holic. It's your usual lesbian-on-lesbian yuri with a trap character apparently hidden somewhere within, which sounds pretty normal for all things Japanese in this day and age, except that the setting for it is also (unironically) a Catholic school, and even I have seen a lot of absurd bullshit animes in my time but god fucking dammit, Japan. I don't even want to find out what this is or spend any time watching it, but I nonetheless feel the need to alert everyone of the existence of this traffic accident of nature, and to remind everyone that no matter how bad the anime you just watched was, there will always manage to be something even worse. The intro alone is fucked up enough as is, and Caveat Emptor, you will want to unsee it.
