Play an instrument?

Only instrument I've ever been able to play well is the recorder. Is that unusual, to have grown up playing recorder as part of one's elementary school curriculum?

No, not unusual. That was the first instrument I took lessons for...then later had to also take it for elementary school.

I play clarinet, but the only songs I can play on it are Lost Woods, Wind Waker, and the Habanera.

That's going to be depressing always being the lesser instrument.

in comparison to violins, yes, there are much much less violas, ALWAYS.
But in terms of playing quality, I've played 8 years, and i think i'm pretty damn good at viola for a 14 year old.
Also, the in-tune thing, it's harder for a smaller group to play in tune, because the bad people aren't as covered up, such as the violins.
