For two years now all online gaming has been blocked by the assholes who run the dorm internet. Not a single person has ever been able to connect to any online game, until Wednesday when I accidentally stumbled upon a game husker and deathspawn were in.
I was severely confused and after hours of tweaking my setting I still couldn't figure out why I could connect to only his server. My roommate tried to connect to CS:S and xbox live, and both of them were blocked at the same time I was startling witches in the sugar mill, so the IT guys didn't open the ports temporarily.
If anyone has any idea as to why this was possible or more info on how L4D2 servers work, let me know as it might be the key to opening up all gaming at my college.
Too bad no one pays attention to the help desk.

Theres a setting somewhere, mm_dedicated_force_servers
Maybe set it to "" or empty?
