Rocket Jumping And You!

have you seen people, namely the soldier, shooting the ground then flying in the air?
do you want to fly like he does?
then just read this




people say theres no trick to it but there sorta is
follow these steps as quickly as possible

or do them as you raed them and then put it all together later after you memorized this

step1: note which way you want to go

step2: look backwards

step3: look down but at a slight angle

step4: jump

step5: crouch or duck in midair

step6: shoot rocket at ground

step7: ???

step8: profit!!



steps 4-6 are most critical since it must be done within a split second

now you may see other kids running around and jumping on walls and not exploding on the way down
this is called walljumping

to do this

repeat the rocket jumping steps but toward the wall (but not directly at it have a slight angle however this can still be done it becomes trickier)


then crouch and fire rockets at around 10-45 degrees below you in the oposite direction of where you want to go

if done correctly you should continue flying on that wall untill you fall

remember kids pressing wasd maked you strafe and go farther or even stop in midair so continue to move forward while jumping it will give a slight boost in length


if you need any hints or tips just watch a youtube video about rocketjumping (i suggest walkthroughs of a map since they make it look easy plus they give you the general movement you need to master)

lol wow, i was bored at work so i was going to make a guide about rocket jumping. well looks like there is already one, so i'll add to it.


Different situations require different usage of rocket jumping, if therein you are going to jump in the first place and wanting to further your skills at playing soldier.

Basic Rocket Jump
look at the ground; simultaneously jump and fire a rocket.

i really don't know any time i would ever use this.. once i learned how to horizontal, and super i never did a basic rj again.

Super Rocket Jump
look at ground; simultaneously jump, crouch, and fire a rocket.

this is used to gain a tactical advantage against an opponent. such as getting to a perch, escaping, or jumping above an enemy to rain down rockets.

Horizontal Rocket Jump
look at ground behind you while moving forward; simultaneously jump, crouch, and fire a rocket.

this jump doesn't go as high, but you go further.. hence the name.
it can be used to get somewhere as fast as possible, or to chase down a fleeing enemy.

(practice doing this fast!. i see alot of people stop, turn around and look down and rocket jump going backwards for the entirety of the jump. it just looks silly.)
some jump maps require you to be able to:

Pogo Jump
hold crouch while looking down, drop off a ledge and hold down the attack key until you get to the other side.

just for soldier exclusive jump maps, where you have infinite ammo, and instant health regeneration.


i'll probably make a small video sometime about efficient techniques for rocket jumping soon. just for the hell of it.

I usually jump by just aiming down and crouch jumping forward while firing. The rocket is slow enough for me to be ahead of it when it explodes and I'm crouch jumping so I have the boost.
