Admin Abuse

I was banned by an admin running around as a medic not-healing for not "being productive" just because I wasn't playing my class the way he thought I should be. I think medics should heal, but I'm not trying to tell him how to play. It was down to a 4v4 so I was melee-ing, and getting kills mind you, but warmonger had his panties in a bunch and decided he could tell me how to play.

I'm as much of a tight ass as anybody, but if a person is meleeing and getting kills and there's only a few people on the server...I think a ban in that situation would be inappropriate. I think warmonger was upset about something in real life and just abusing his power and being a dick.

Shoot you a PM if you guys agree and unban me. If not, I hope you enjoy the maps regardless of how you think I should play a heavy.

- it's not like a server that has a next map of 'king of trains' is expected to be a CAL match..

Wtf. Who banned you? I had to leave an hour ago, I would've unbanned you, and yelled at the admin who banned you. How long was the ban? I get the feeling whoever banned you was drunk, or forgetting that we were fighting to get decent people on the server two months ago.

Warmonger was pissed off at other people and I appologize that you got banned. I know he was frusterated by a bunch of stuff that was happeneing on the server at the time and it would seem that you ended up taking some of the heat. I doubt he banned you for more than 10 minutes, but if he did i'll make sure you get unbanned.

Unfortunately I can't be around all the time to be able to know everything that was going on or exactly what happened. Warmonger mentioned to me that he banned a few specific people but your name never came up. He mentioned that he was upset about a lot of things going on in the server. It is possible that he accidentally selected your name in the admin menu or something like that, I really couldn't know for sure. I kinda doubt that was the case but is is possible.

What me an him talked about was specific to a few people who had admin on the server and, based on our conversation, those people have been releaved of their admin powers. Warmonger is typically a nice guy and is a very reserved admin most of the time. He is someone who I respect and trust to make good decesions so to see something like this happen does come as a surprise.

If anyone has any admin related issues, epecially those related to admin abuse, don't hesitate to message me and let me know. I am very willing to talk to everyone involved and firgure out a solution, but if people don't let me know I have no way of knowing.

From how much I've played with him Warmonger is an awesome guy and one of the best players on the server. But he is definitely someone with a short temper when you piss him off.

If something like what happened to warmonger started to tick me off, I would just kick the certain player with a warning. I know Plastic Jesus gets upset with a lot of others, but he hardly bans anybody for what they do. He has slayed quite a few, however

I said it a little harshly in the original post, but like I said, I think he was pissed off about other stuff....a heavy going melee with 8 ppl on the server doesn't seem anything to get irritated about (to me). Now, to be fair, he did kick me first after telling me "contribute to the team" or get kicked. I agree that in general disobeying an admin is a bannable offense, but I felt pretty strongly I wasn't doing anything wrong. It's not like I was spawncamping or map exploiting or anything.

Anyway, I'm on now, and I wouldn't have been surprised if it was a 10 minute ban, but I was irritated enough to post about it, so here we are.

I see admins turning on and off melee a lot (even successive in the same minute). Maybe admins should all get the option to vote melee so if the people really want it then they can vote for it. But also if the map NEEDS melee (like dm_biosphere) then the admins have a force melee option to turn it on without the effort of putting up a vote.

I would, but I can't start votes.

Regarding War, i like him, but sometimes he just flies off the handle. Like at DM blockfort, i changed it because alot of people said it would be good with melee only,so i did, no one objected, War changed it back because HE didn't like it.

I believe the option is either broken or lower admins cannot anyways. This is what my suggestion was, to be able to at least start a melee vote.

I really should make a post about what people do and don't have access to but that is about the gyst of it. Lower admins don't have slay, slap or any of the voting commands and the higher admins do. That's it, those three things. This melee thing is starting to sound like what happened with gravity which is why I got rid of it for lower admins (that and gravity breaks the server). Maybe I need to get rid of melee only too and reserve that for a few people.

Doesn't gravity only affect the demoman grenades and stickies unless we change it back before the map changes?

its only if we DONT change it before the map ends, then change it to normal the next map.
