So probably the whole friend thing is just referencing the fact that the two are friends and you're not gonna be friends anymore.

I really really hope they add Saxton Hale as a class and bring back VIP. That would be amazing.

For those that don't know there are three classes in VIP. Attackers, VIP Escorts and VIP (max 1 player). The object is for the VIP Escorts to protect the VIP until he makes it to a specified point.

I kinda doubt they will bring it back since they added Payload as a replacement game mode but the comic did mention Saxton Hale being involved somehow.

Also, there are signs that point to updating both Soldier and Demo. What would be a better way to split their friendship than to offer a weapon for killing the other one x amount of times or something like that?

To my knowledge, Saxton Hale's company makes all the weapons for RED and BLU, so it's probably the double update thing. VIP mode sounds like it would be cool. Also, I like how there's a possible Soldier update right when I get decent at it.

Personally, I suspect a new game-mode. My first piece of evidence to support this factor are the sudden new responses on the TF2 wiki's "Announcer" file. A bunch of these responses involve the terms of friendship and trying to end it, so maybe it'd be some kind of "kill your rival" type thing, or it might just be them trying to get you to find and destroy your rivals from in-game more often.

Well, lucky #43, someone already e-mailed VALVe and their response was that it wasn't a new game mode.

The WAR UPDATE. Special weapon will be unlocked for either the Soldier or Demoman depending on how many of the other class you kill as that class. (IE: The more demomen you kill as a soldier, the better, and the other way around.)

Yes that would be amazing but it probably wont happen... that game was so much fun in TFC because I played sniper back then and it was really easy to end it in one shot.

They might be able to adjust the gameplay by giving the guy a giant bulletproof helmet that had it's own "shield" bar or something but playtesting something like that would be hellish.

It's because:
A People know that Soldier. can beat Demos easier on any map that's not Defense.
B People want Demos to win so they roll Demos on Stock Servers.
