iTunes, a rant thread

Unread post by D34THSPAWN »

Ok here is my itunes bitch story, feel free to share your own.

First off i only use it because i have to for my itouch.

Ok, so one of the last few times i synched it for some unknown reason it took some of my recent purchases off of my ipod, including a new cd i wanted to share with a few people, i get about halfway home, (away from the computer that i had the downloads on) when i trued to show them the songs, and lo and behold they werent there, i had no clue why or what was going on, so i am home now with my netbook, so i was like, ok i'll just download them on here and rip the rest of my muusic off of my ipod, well i guess i am only able to download the music ONCE even though its bound to my account...honestly apple? go take a flying fuck off of a tall bridge. seriously. this is the last thing i buy from itunes, FFS.

I know you're going to say this isn't the problem, but I had a very similar problem. I'd go back and forth between two computers with my ipod. You have to make sure you click transfer purchases the first time you plug it in every time. You're right, you can't download them again without paying for them and I agree that its BS.

I have to download certain musical pieces for college. You know how hard it is to find pirated classical music? Very Hard.

When I had an iPod I used Media Monkey for all my syncing. I don't know how well it integrates with the iTunes store but ti worked amazing for everything else.

On a Zune with Zune Pass you can connect to the Zune store via any WiFi hotspot from the device itself and download whatever you want for free. The service costs $15 a month and you get to keep 10 songs each month forever. The rest of the downloaded songs would go away if you stopped using the service but IMO, $15 for 10 songs plus unlimited downloads of everything in their library is pretty nice.

I always get my Zunes from Woot as refirbs. Only had issues with one but Microsoft replaced it for free.

this
is win.

for functionality over flash - foobar2k has to be one of the better desktop audio players out there. been using it since a friend turned me on to it a few years ago.

Deathspawn; there are quite a few of alternates to itunes out there now. might be worth checking out to ease your frustration. i know a few of them require you to copy library files, or create the inital track db with itunes -- but day to day usage is less frustrating.
