Indie games

Unread post by g_e_oos »

I know I've posted a topic like this before but I don't feel like looking for it. Anyways, I tend to like Indie games and I found three that were awesome.

Knytt - It's kinda short but can be hard if you aren't used to pixel perfect jumping.

http://nifflas.ni2.se/index.php?main=03 ... 03Download

Knytt Stories - Just like the first but with power ups and a level creator. It seems a little easier as well.

Cave Story - The best of the three in my opinion. 2D jump and shoot stuff. Great weapons and difficult.

Trilby: The Art of Theft - Fun game about stealth and stealing stuff. It's also made by the Zero Punctuation guy.

You guys should play them and tell me what you think. Also if you find any good free games send a link please.

Edit: I will just add games to this post as they come up.

Thunder Wheels
http://www.ogre3d.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=36445

Does anyone remember the old arcade game 'OFFROAD'? It had steering wheels and you raced 4x4 trucks around tracks. Fun racing game, this one is modeled after that and done using Ogre.

The link goes to the Ogre forums, lots of cool indie stuff as Ogre is a freeware renderer which is very good.

It's got a track editor so you can make your own tracks. Really easy, I made one in less than 20 minutes and was racing. They're still working on netwroking so it's single player for now.
This would be worth money if you had it in writing

TRINE demo on steam

Played this last night. Decent demo, lets you play about an hour and get used to 3 characters.

It's a sidescroller, beautiful graphics, alot like WoW I think looks wise.

Easy controls. wasd, w and space are jump. W/s is up down on ropes.

3 characters, the mage who can literally draw boxes. You draw a square and a cool magical geared box appears different sizes depending on your square. You can use them to jump up onto things, drag things magically off a ledge, etc... Or to weight a balnce obstacle to get onto it.

The Thief has arrows and a rope to attch and swing around.

The Knight has a sword and shield, chews through enemies and breaks through barriers. You can choose any character at any time (1,2,3) and using them all is required to get through puzzles.

Really well done from the demo. I'll probably buy it once the price drops from $30. Might be worth $30 but I don't buy many games.

World of good is indie and fun :P

but by far the only Indie game I'm interested in is so indie they don't even have a publisher yet.
