Some of you guys have already seen this I am sure but it is basicly a free multiplayer version of quake 3 that runs in your web browser. It works really well and has a very small footprint. You can even make a friends list and play with your friends.

If any of you want to give it a shot and get rocketed in the face in another game, my name on there is captainAngry. I can even kinda play it at work, which is a big bonus for me since I have lots of downtime around here.

rudedog04 is, as usual, the username. good game, i have never played quake before so this should be interesting.

2 hours later: i got this "punkmaster" guy that keeps kicking me for server communication. the game is working fine and i have no firewall blocking anything. anybody else getting this?

This happened to me on my Vista 64 laptop, my fix was to do this:
SyncError (QuakeLive Admin) wrote:INTERNET EXPLORER USERS: IE running in protected mode causes a virtualization of the file system and a failure to correctly extract PnkBstrB.exe. Adding quakelive to the trusted site is a temporary fix/work-around for this. Player's need to also make sure that their "trusted site" zone does not have "protected mode" enabled.

In Internet Explorer,

1. Go to Tools->Internet Options
2. Click the Security Tab
3. Select 'Trusted Sites'
4. Ensure that the 'Enable Protected Mode' checkbox is not checked.
5. Click 'Sites'
6. Uncheck the 'Require server verification (https for all sites in this zone' checkbox
7. In the 'Add this website to the zone:' text box, type: http://www.quakelive.com
8. Click Add, Click Close

FIREFOX USERS: For FF heartbeat kicks, a firewall of some sort (either Windows or third-party) is blocking PnkBstrB packets from getting back to the client. This can be fixed by excepting PnkBstrA/B.exe in the firewall configuration. In some cases, excepting PnkBstrB.exe and PnkBstrA.exe does not fix the problem, but shutting off the firewall does. Please verify that your Windows or third-party firewalls are properly configured or disabled.

I had to do that but once I did I couldn't find that spot on their forums anymore! and it's also why I was asking :(

The fix seems to be to not use a shitty browser.
