almost lost my account

ok so when i got home from eating out for dinner and i opened steam which i am always logged into on my laptop and only my
laptop. then it said i was logged in to another computer and i closed steam and reopened it and my password would not work so i sent the request for my secret question and stuff and i went to my email and did all the stuff for it but for some reason my secret question was in french. so i sent a email to the support desk (or what ever it is) and asked y it was in french and if possible to send it to me in english. as i was waiting for that i noticed that i had a another email that said my email had been successfully changed my password but i did not authorize it so i relised that it had been hijacked but then i got the email from the support desk and they changed my password and secret question. when i put it in it worked and then i quickly changed my password and secret question.so all in all i got my account back before they got a chance to really do anything.

This same thing happened to Lil Sam yesterday.

Somebody must know the source. Did Sam really send out a link to something?

Yes, but I don't think Sam was sent it yesterday. By that point her account was stolen and she was sending it to everyone. LD and I fell for it, but quickly changed our passwords and stuff before any damage was done. LilSam lost her account in minutes according to what she said, all from the site something like tournement.tk (dont go there).

I logged into the .tk site with the username gofuckyourself and password uptheass
I hope there is no one out there with that exact user info...

You guys gotta learn your phishing sites more carefully, and this one is OBVIOUS. Seriously, a tk site? That's like some 10 year old making a free domain to steal passwords. Firefox does catch this, so if you were using that this wouldn't have happened.

Read up, inform yourselves, and never let this happen to you.

It does not catch it all the time. I use Firefox and was given no indication. I wasn't paying much attention, and so I am an idiot regardless, but still. I know what a phishing site is and I don't know why I chose now to fall for it.

Well it was LilSam that sent it. So sorry, it wasn't physically her. It was the hacker guy on her account.

It's funny, I'm friends with a lot of the people who got hacked (such as lilsam or that FaF clan) and I never once got sent the message. The reason I found out about it is somebody told me about the fake site and I went to go see it.

I somehow managed to read that small wall of text which is very inaccurately written.

PLEASE PEOPLE PUT YOUR POSTS IN NORMAL SENTENCES SO I CAN READ THEM WITHOUT SPENDING AN HOUR TRYING TO DECODE THEM.

...No offense to any of you, only to your writing. :)

ON TOPIC: Huh, i must have missed out on something while in Montreal.

If in doubt, hit enter a few times to break that shit up. I tent to end up writing wall-o-text posts and I do my best to break them up. Sometimes you just have a lot to say.

Steam Support will never need your password for any reason. Ignore any password request you receive.
So...

Yeah....

That isn't relevant. It wasn't someone posing as Steam Personnel. It was a website to look like the steampowered.com login site.

Yeah, I know. It's the principal of never giving your password away, I just wanted a direct quote. ;)

So you never login to Steam? That's what we thought we were doing. We would never say:
Non-Steam company: Can I have your password and username?
Me: Sure.

Phishing at it's finest.
