Should i do some kind of contest?

So..see...the thing is...I bought a video card that came with call of duty world at war (a $49.99 value!) that I have no intention of playing. Anyway, I have this CD with a key on the back that I assume you can click "activate a product on steam" and type in the CD key and DL the game and it will be yours forever.

Do you think I could use that as a prize in a contest of some sort...like maybe for the best in-game graphic idea for making botg more user friendly or something?

I think it is a good prize because you could send the code to someone via email or something and they would have the game.

Personally I don't really want it but if you had a contest I would probably participate anyway.

Dont know how... :( Like making skins for them and such?

Converting an image to a skin isn't too bad. The only tricky part is transparency, although I don't think it is as hard as people say it is, but it's just a suspicion because I don't map myself.

no actually, I meant more 3d modeling. I need a boat to replace the brush-based one beneath the airship.

If anyone can think of a good hoop to make people jump through to win a copy, I'm down for that. I'm seriously not going to play this thing...but I can't really think of anything I'd want people to win something for doing...

You should use it as a prize for an event on your server to get people on for one of your rate-offs.

yeah, i guess I'd have their steam IDs somewhere. Is there a way to see who (steam ID wise) rates the maps (so i can see who rates the most?)

If I can work out the details, I'm going to take the good cap'n's advice and do a rate-off reward. I'm thinking perhaps a random name from all the people that rated the map with the most ratings...or something. But the database where I was keeping my ratings exploded....so I have to have the cheeseburgler server landlords set it back up again first.

It just so happens I actually have 2 copies....i bought myself a 9800 GT that came with it, and bought my friend one for his birthday because his puter couldn't really play L4D (i thought it might be fun to play with my old highschool chums).

At any rate...maybe once the hootany gets back up., I'll give one copy away as above (random for a rater of the map with the most ratings), and another for the steam ID who has rated the most maps on mah server.

One way or another, I plan to have these on the way out the door by this time next week

By playing on the server and then dying 3 minutes into a map...or by typing !maprate. Of course, it won't work until I get the mySQL stuff sorted this weekend/early next week.

On the plugin page it tells ypu the SQL to setup the database again...You just have to run that in PHP my admin.

I don't, which is kind of the problem. This thread may answer your question (or confuse you more)

Ok, 90% of all the sites on this forum arre blocked by our servers at work, so I can never check anything, but the program I have access to is SolidWorks. For some reason I believe that the program types are definately not compatible with one another.
P.S. Ignore spelling I am an engineer not an English major 8-)
