I've been talking up making a mixtape of all my favorite music of 2011 for months now, and now that 2011 is complete, I figured that I should compile it and post it here. It has 58 tracks from 50~ or so artists and covers most of my favorite songs of 2011. A few experimental avant-garde tracks were left out (This being an example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyjlpi2VHtI) and I'll always assume that I probably forgot something. The tracks are in no particular order. It's pretty much a guarantee that you aren't going to like all of these songs, but I hope that you do find something like and check out any of these great artists.

I picked up Wildlife on a whim and a few random comments that said it sounded somewhat like At The Drive In and ended up really enjoying it. I don't listen to a lot of other post-2003~ post-hardcore, but that Touche Amore (which I'm sure you're already aware of) album this year was also pretty good, though it didn't quite make whatever vague cutoff I set for this mixtape.

(Also thanks for pointing out the one track where I put the artist name before the track name, I knew I did it somewhere in that list but wasn't diligent enough to seek it out.)

Ahh well atleast you picked up La Dispute! They're starting to get more recognition which is good. They're pretty diverse in that they remind me a lot of the euro-post hardcore band despite being from grand rapids. They have plenty of splits/EPs/albums so get your hands on as much as you can! Their "Hear hear" EPs are less of songs and more poetry like and I adore them. For more intense stuff check out their "somewhere at the bottom of the river between vega and altair" album.

Touche Amore is pretty good also, I like them a lot. Overall I enjoy most of the music on your list and I'd say its a great summarization of good music in 2011.

Their second album (which DDB is off of) is really great, but I have to say that their first album Gamelan Into Mink Supernatural is their best. Its more rough edged and less instrumentally complex, but damn if it isn't one of the most engaging noise albums of all time.
