What Made You Stay In cC?

That's if you remember. And while you're at it, try to remember your first map on cC you played on, and give us a whole story if you want.

Blaming doghouse works for everything. I can't remember anything about the first map I played other than it was sort of like a desert map and there was a truck prop, so I'll just say Cyberpunk.

I stayed because LaN seemed like a chill bro, then I played the maps and enjoyed them.

First map: Melee Checkers.

That's back when they had the pillars that people rocketjumped onto, and when people sniped across the map before the map started, and before jump pads (I think?)

I've become too deep seeded into this thing to leave anytime soon. I mean, I've been playing with some of these dudes for like 3-4 years now, was like 5th to set up a forum account, and became a moderator in the at some point through the whole thing (to clear out spambots more than anything else, but what ever).

I think the first map I ever played on was ol' dustbowl but that shit was waaaaaaaay back in the day.

To this day, I still don't know why I stay.

First Map = breakfall, was invited by the mapmaker who is a good friend of mine.

i stayed because of the people. i had even made a list of the members that were awesome on the back of my art portfolio back then!

Like Kerp, I'm one of the original members and I'm too far in to get out now, not that I'd want to. The first time I played on SM however was sometime early in summer of 08. I was still pretty new to TF2 and I had just downloaded the Pickle Jar (a map pack with castle4 and chaos and all those classic maps in it) and was looking for a server that was playing one of those maps. I saw SM was playing castle4 and jumped on. I think I got to play like 10 seconds of castle4 before the map changed to some indescribably shitty ctf map. I kept getting killed in horribly awkward ways because of this terrible map. I nearly left the server, but some SM regular told some joke about how terrible the map was and I had this weird revelation about communally participating in a terrible thing made it fun.

So I stuck around SM until its eventual death, got interested in griefing and fucked around on French surf servers and then got recruited by Captain to be a cC member as he was starting the server up. Mostly stuck around the background, chilling, until I got a working microphone, developed the hipster persona and became the terrible person you all have to deal with today.

People who are familiar with source and such? And of course maybe he means in like late december of 07, so people had the grasp of it.

TBH, I was looking for a custom map to change things up, found "Arena_Chamber" and I loved the concept of one-on-one fights to the death where the winner walks free. That map had me hooked. In hindsight, it sucks, mostly because of the execution. Matches take way too long. Anyway, that's what got me hooked onto the funserver, then I joined the forums, where I met the community. And I realized that I JUST LOVE YOU ALL SO FUCKING MUCH <3

Ahhhh, the days of /-sm-/, good times.

I just randomly chose a server that was running custom maps and SM was running an awesome rotation of good custom maps, though i was using my brothers account and i was 12 (and what is this?) . i found out it was a rather friendly FAMILY SERVER.

though i'm pretty sure everyone there hated me because i was a regular going onto a serious server at that age, but that was where i could go really...

i remember the good times when J'dub banned some douches that came onto the server and started swearing at the top of their lungs, of course they could managed to get out 1 and 1/2 words before the banhammer was swung.

i miss ere one, i stayed there to see if any respectable admins would come back, very few did,

P.S first map in cC was THE FIRST MAP EVER FOR THE cC SERVER! whoop whoop

it was only a few months after I got the orange box after hearing so many good things about TF2 and Portal (back then I wasn't a PC gamer)
after giving up on valve maps thanks to the amount of lag they caused, I went on a search for servers rotating custom maps and here I found the funserver with original breakfloor, you know! the one that was all white and forced you to melee scout.

Sheeeeeeeeeeeiiiiitttt. I bought TF2, dicked around on some servers, landed inside the Calculated Chaos customMaps server, and I thought it was pretty fun.

I stuck around for about a month or so...hanging out with all the regulars and oldies. I decided to make a forum account, then I became an admin, then I ravaged the funserver, then I went to college and didn't play for a long time and missed out on the admin deletion spree.

I came back dazed and confused, and once again was a regular player.

Since then I've just been hanging out, rolling through all the shenanigans with you guys.

I've hung around other communities and TF2 servers and I keep coming back/staying here because CalculatedChaos is one of the best/well ran and maintained. Also, the community/player base is most consistent and active out of other places I've seen.

And...it's just tons of fun here.

Also, you guys would miss me if I left. I can't be a heartbreaker.

I played tf2 since '07 , but it was on the xbox.

Then I moved to PC around summer of '09 and I just jumped on servers. Then in october I saw breakfloor and it looked like an interesting name.

All I remember is tgame rambling about stuff and I decided to stick around because I know people here.

(also giggles, where is the arrow from my name pointing at :isee: )

Um. I got Tf2 in spring 2010. ( i'm a newb, i'm so cool)

I was looking for maps that didn't make me lag horribly, since I had an integrated graphics card(as I had never played a modern computer game before). I'm pretty sure the first map I played on cC was balloon race, as it was like the only map that ever worked right. I stayed because it was so damn hilarious, Flaminsarge and Spleenter trolling the funserver whenever checkers came up, things like that.

I joined the forum around memorial day, because I reeeeally wanted to play on the server over the member weekend. Then giggles and I had a fierce discussion about Doctor Who. Then doghouse insists on calling me Sandwich. Then I beat him in Monopoly. Then we are here.

i played on the lame ps3 version of tf2 for a while, which got me hooked on it, them moved to PC around mid-2010, cC was the first server i joined, then i liked the maps on the funserver (at the time) then thought the community was really cool, and have been a regular since.
