Well, i have neither games so i might as well choose one

I would recommend Minecraft. Great community, lots of mods, and so on.

Minecraft for either end of the spectrum

well, it really depends on what your looking for.
despite terreria's description, it really is not at all like minecraft, it's more of an rpg than a sandbox, while minecraft is designed so you can build whatever you want, but the fighting is mediocre.

Both games are good but i prefer minecraft. more simple and ITS A BITCH TO PLACE BLOCKS. It took me like 20 mins to place a torch on the wall.

terraira is just a 2D version of minecraft. except more monsters and can build more things. thats it. minecraft is better.

minecraft. I doubt such amazing circuitry (redstone) could be built in terraria.

It depends on what you're looking for. Minecraft is more centered around building with currently, not that much emphasis on exploring. Terraria on the other hand is the reverse. It has more focus on exploring than on building but it has a cap off. Once you find the strongest weapons and armor, everything becomes easy and there's not much left that can keep your excitement sustained. Minecraft on the other hand, with breakable items and a almost limitless sized world, there really is no cap.

Another thing to take into consideration is that Minecraft still hasn't been officially released and is about to receive a huge update that will add more emphasis on exploring. So if you're looking for something specific, Minecraft may get it in the near future. Terraria on the other hand is released but there are occasionally updates that are released.

i would definatly say minecraft....the multiplayer is so much easier to connect to and the singleplayer is fun to....along with a few txt packs and mods minecraft is almost as fun as tf2....almost though...
