Spiral Knights
So, how are you guys liking this? I've only been able to play for like 10 minutes, but it seems pretty interesting.

Re: Spiral Knights
Its nowhere near as fun as its made out to be, IMO. You're better off playing DFO when the update comes out July 1st.
Life is whatever.

Re: Spiral Knights
Huh, I've seen pretty mixed opinions on DFO, but I might as well try that out...
Although, I'm going to summer camp July 3, so I won't really have much time to play it. :/

It's......ok.
Though the crafting confuses me.

Re: Spiral Knights
its fun. I'll be playing some but not buying anything.
crafting is a slight pain in butt.
look for recipes to buy. then 'learn' the recipe (I guess you can trade it if you don't learn it, seems pointless), then if you have all the items go to crafting machine.
If you dont learn recipe you can read it anytime/anywhere, if you learn it you have to go to a machine to see what the components are. That's dumb.
The crafting machine eats up a lot of energy, so you're almost better buying the item at auction and saving energy for lifts.

Re: Spiral Knights
It's decent fun, but I have to say that it has a very odd model for bleeding your money.
Most successful free-to-play games like this follow a model similar to "You're limited in what you can do, but within those limits you can do whatever you want, as much as you want."
Spiral Knights, however, goes for "You can do whatever you want but we're gonna throw boulders in your path unless you pay $30 for 2 days worth of resources."
If you're going to do that, you might as well give the game a monthly subscription which allows energy to recharge much faster, remove the 100 energy limit, and remove the energy cost for lifts.

Re: Spiral Knights
It's Sega, they're prone to leading people into a trap and charging outrageous prices for things that should've been in the game. Take Sonic and Sega all stars racing for example, DLC came out with Ryu's forklift a pre-order feature for 5 dollars and real DLC featuring one racer and one track for $20.
yeah, the way I see it Sega died with the Dreamcast.

I went ahead and bought the starter pack ($20) and played all weekend, and I'm still about even. But I've been trading, watching the market.
If you play it smart that $20 can last much longer than 2 days. And I'm at all 3-4 lvl stuff.
I even took a few friends along for the ride and paid vator fares.

Re: Spiral Knights
I like spiral knights
Its special. Its Free to play but its not "pay to win"
The game looks pretty and its fun. Only crappy thing is the Stupid energy system and its mainly button smashin. Another crappy thing that there is no spells. I cant be a combo whore
I dont know why you guys think the crafting is complicated. Its simple, Get recipe, get materials, find the crafting machine and craft. Like tf2, sort of.

Re: Spiral Knights
Well, it IS better with friends. Scottlind, giggles, Spleenter, and I totally rocked it.
Also, me and Scottlind made it to Tier 2 later.
The energy thing is dumb, but I figure I can wait a day to play again. Reminds me of FarmVille etc. actually.

Re: Spiral Knights
Getting energy is quite easy actually: go down the lifts (which costs about 70 energy I think), get crowns, buy energy with crowns, 40 goto 10.A Common Sandvich wrote:Well, it IS better with friends. Scottlind, giggles, Spleenter, and I totally rocked it.
