Thread with a clever name relating to fighting games

Unread post by MrKerplunkers »

Just curious as to how many people on cC play fighters. Maybe we can get a little club going like that RTS deal we had a ways back or at the very least get some casual matches together.
Anyway, post the fighting games you play, along with your mains for extra fun.

Marvel vs Capcom 3 PS3 (Dante/Deadpool/Haggar)

Marvel vs Capcom 2 PS3 (Cable/Ruby Heart/ B.B. Hood)

Blazblue Continuum Shift PS3 (Hazama/Ragna, but they really changed the combos since I last played)

Mortal Kombat 2011 PS3 (Ermac/Cyrax)

I also plan on getting Skull Girls when it comes out over the summer, if anyone else has been keeping up on that game.

Mortal Kombat 64 [Sub-Zero]

Capcom vs. SNK 2 [I don't even remember, its been years since I played that game]

Dragonball Z Budokai 2 [Vegeta, Trunks]

Super Smash Bros. Brawl [Ike, Luigi, Meta Knight, Lucario]

Soul Calibur 3 ["I don't even remember, its been years since I played that game"]

Hisotensoku

Face it Kerp, you're the only one who plays real fighting games.

I play a few fighting games but I really suck at them...

Blazblue [Rachel, Ragna, Taokaka]

Super Street Fighter [Mainly just Sakura, haven't played it long enough to find a good person for me]

Smash bros Brawl [Game&Watch, Luigi, Lucas]

Really want Skull Girls but I don't own a personal 360 or PS3....

I still don't know if I should pick up Super Street Fighter 4 AE (On Steam of course) or Street Figher x Tekken when it comes out. The downside to buying the latter is that I'd finally have to "man up" and get Xbox Live to bother playing online, but seeing the Comicon trailer for Street Fighter x Tekken gets my hyped for no apparent reason.

Buying both isn't that bad of an idea. SS4 is like 15 bucks or something on steam and easy as fuck to pick up on.
Street Fighter x Tekken is worth picking up because it has Yoshimitsu and he is kinda the greatest fighting game character ever created.

There are two fighter games I play, the other game I enjoy that isn't fighting related right now is a runescape version listed on http://www.gaminghorror.net/runescape-c ... -playable/

The two fighter games are Mortal Kombat & Soul Caliber.

I suck with pretty much every character but I suck slightly less with Rachel. I also hate Carl, I don't understand how he is supposed to be played.

The point is to build up my hopes and dreams of someone actually giving a shit about fighting games only to have all of those dreams dashed in an instance. In my sadness, I am more likely to spend my money on "point toe pumps".

I pick my MK characters on their tier. I only like UMK3 (and earlier) and MK9 (2011).
Mortal Kombat characters are in tiers. Some are plainly more powerful than others. The higher the tier, the more powerful they are when mastered. Some characters are easier to learn how to play and combo with, but aren't nearly as powerful as higher tier classes who have much more difficult combos to learn. How powerful each character is changes each game, but their status generally stays the same. I choose characters on how well they perform, not because I like their character, such as 50% of people who's favorite character is Scorpion. He's a great character, but Smoke, who in MK3/UMK3 was very similar in the fact that they both had the spear, had much more devastating combo potential. But he's not as cool as Scorpion. Mileena in MK2 was one of the best characters. In UMK3, she was considered the worst. And in all the installments after that, she was pretty low-tier.

However, Nightwolf, ever since he was introduced in MK3, was awesome. High tier, one of the best, and still is today in MK9.

Plus he's a badass. He's like a naitive-american Fabio with mad fighting skills.

Stryker is a lame character. Nobody fucking likes Stryker.
He was some fat cop wearing street clothes. Who wanted to pick him over other cooler characters like Scorpion or Sub-Zero? He turned out to be a secret 'gem', probably the strongest character in MK3. He was almost overpowered, if played correctly, because he had that gun move that was so easy to 'juggle' people with. He was nerfed in MK9. Pity.
But Nightwolf and Stryker have got to be the best, right up there with Johnny Cage. Even though I fuckin hate Johnny Cage and Stryker as characters, they're still great fighters to play as.

I suppose that it's worth mentioning that there was a big push to go into competitive Melee in my group of friends for whatever reason. I've been brushing up on my Sheik and Captain Falcon skills while Dept (for those who remember that guy) decided to be an uncreative bitch and took up Fox. Maybe we'll head for a tournament one day, who the fuck knows.

Shit's from arksys, so it should be pretty rad. Some losers who got the japanese arcade release have already found some neat tech for it. Hell. it may even convince me to fork over the 20 bucks to get Persona 3 and 4 from the bargin bin.

Also, skullgirls comes out this tuesday on PSN, 15 bucks, well worth that kind of dough. I'd say stick it to capcom, but that stopped being cool months ago.

For anyone who cares, skullgirls got a confirmed release on PC, featuring such innovative new features such as "online ranking" and "in game move-lists".

Yeah, even I'll admit that this game got rushed to market...

In non-sarcastic news, everyone is pretty sure that the steam version will play cross-platform with the PS3 a la portal 2, so if anyone wants a match after this game drops, lemme know.

It's like King of Fighters, except... Wait, is that the new King of Fighters game?
No really, this is just Chinese King of Fighters with better netcode.

Or we could play that new Melty Blood game.
