Can anyone explain what it is and it's purpose better than the TF2 home blog?

And should i go ahead and load it?

im downloading it now, ill let you know. from what ive heard so far, everyone get the spy polycount pack to play with, if you craft items in the beta you craft the in the main game too, there are no item drops (save milestone drops), no trading or store, and there are no hats.

ill let you know more as i know more.

The beta's purpose is open testing to game changes, they do something big that requires a lot of testing, like adding more health to a class. And the people playing the beta send in feedback, based upon said feedback they make changes or not the the actual game. So we'll probly have less weapons that are brokenly powerful due to testing.

Was wondering when this was actually gonna come out when i saw the counter strike beta. Really good idea on valve's part to do this with their games.

sounds better then normal tf2
