Fix melee_bash?

Considering the fact that melee_bash is still played relatively often, despite the fact that it is totally broken, I think it would be a good idea to fix and update the map, so that it is *ahem* not broken.

I've acquired the means to decompile and edit the map, but I don't really know who originally made the it, and I don't want them getting p*ssed at me.

Though it seems unlikely that the original creator is in this community, I think I might wait and see if anyone objects; if not, I'll release a "fixed" version of the map, that may have a slight chance of not making everyone rage as much as the original did. :buddy:

i know you know how to strip the weapons, but could you also clip the top edge of the map so you dont get people running around the top of the map.

Great idea, Old Man Jenkins (and LaN).
The things that need to be fixed first are the melee system (and prevent the medigun of course), the aids pool (you can get through it as DR spy) and maybe a little more detail could be added.

Working on it today, I've managed to fix most of the more obvious problems:
  • fixed weapon stripping
    fixed overheal glitch
    fixed cubemaps (WOOHOO!)
    fixed breakable ground area (lowered damage needed to break, made more symmetrical)
    fixed water death area (stretched trigger_hurt brush down to the bottom to prevent people falling through, increased damage amount to that which will kill a DR spy)
    removed ammo boxes (seriously? what was this guy thinking?)
    made some things more symmetrical
Right now I'm working on a cool capture point that comes out from under the water when activated. You have to break the middle ground pieces to get to it.
Afterwards, I'll start focusing on more detail-type things.

I'm happy to take anyone's suggestions or requests.

Make the walls breakable?

Also the skybox should look nice, maybe nighttime?

That actually gives me another great idea: It would be awesome if after the point activates, the walls started closing in, decreasing the size of the arena. Your idea is good too, I'll probably use that if my first idea doesn't work, which seems like a recurring pattern among awesome ideas.

I agree that a nighttime sky would look great; I'm also considering adding some 3D skybox elements in the distance. Those always look a map look much more believable and overall better.
