Arena_Tomb

Unread post by Riftoff »

I am currently in the planning stages for my first "real" map. (An arena map if you didn't read the title.) I don't know if its ever going to be finished, or even releasable, but I'm going to try anyway. Here are is my basic MO for this map.

- Keep it simple. (No crazy new gamemode/ladders/built in teleports)
- Gives the feeling of being underground
- Textures that don't look like a clusterfuck (like the do now)
- Ambient lighting
(To Be Updated)

Yay more cC mappers.
Might I suggest that you do not have so much water that no one will play pyro.
I know when they were introducing arenas they specifically mentioned not having much water.

edit: Oh yea, and in my opinion, arena is a great game-type for mapping starters. They are usually small, comparatively, and they are symmetrical.

The water is going to be a sort of side area, an alternate path to the other side, and a place to escape a pyro if you happened to be near one of the entrances. (There are only going to be 3 entrances with my current plan one near each spawn room and one in the middle)

Just thought I would let you guys know I am making some progress. I've got how I want the map to be plotted out in my mind. (A sort of angular figure 8 with depth.) I have changed the name to Tomb, and am dropping the water idea for an underground archaeological dig. Or you could just RP as mummies. ;)
