I remember all those except Kirby. Back then cartoons dared to venture further than now, they were trailblazers seeking out how far a cartoon could go while still being intended for kids, teens & adults.

Think about Rocko's modern life for a second. You know how many masturbation references they managed to sneak past the censors?
Or like Plunkers posted, The Animaniacs were'nt limited to just that one instance for adult humor.

My friend has every cartoon that's been on Cartoon Network and nickelodeon on DVD and iv'e been watching quite a bit of them, and damn it, I nostalgia all over. The question I wanted to ask, what Cartoon or Show brings you way back to the good times.

Yeah but look at the old warner brothers/loony toons cartoons from the early days with their stereotypical and raciest view on everything. Racism used to be mainstream funny so it wasn't surprising to see a things that you could NEVER get away with today. Take that with the fact they used to use the Flintstones and the like for advertising drugs and alcohol.

Perfect example. In the below video, bugs bunny is singing and dancing about buying war bonds and for no reason what so ever, he puts on black face and continues to sing in an accent like nothing happened.

Another example is this extremely racist representation of black babies at the 3:10 mark of this Betty Boop cartoon.

I'm not denying the classic cartoons were the primes of the golden age of american animation. I was comparing the ones i listed to todays cartoons. The ones i mentioned would probably make people upset these days, the golden age cartoons would probably have lawsuits spring up.

As much as I watched Rocco's Modern Life I can't admit I like it because it would limit my ability to be cool to this guys level:

Rift, I never knew you had it so ruff. You had to deal with whining Asians and Blacks while in tanks?

If I remember correctly, you've never seen a person that's not white in real life? That happened, that was posted, right?

Hmm, I don't recall saying that. Or it being true.

You're referring to the fact my town has a low percentage of minorities. Believe me, I've seen more Mexicans, Asians, and Blacks at one time then a lot of people have seen combined (hyperbole). New York City, less then 50 miles away....

Digression over, thread re-railed.
