As a community, I think that those who are not interesting in going full competitive with CEVO might want to try their hand at a more relaxed 9v9 highlander tournament.

We have until August 26th to build a team, would anybody be interested in doing this?

When is the tourney.

If you wouldn't mind having someone on the team with no mic I'd love to do this, though due to this I'd understand if you'd rather not have me. No worries either way.

I'm leading a CEVO team without a microphone. I'm pretty sure they're not gonna be really picky about it.

Just remember, when you don't have a mic, you have to listen twice as hard and be even more aware of enemies and their locations.

As a general rule, NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER play competitive TF2 without a microphone and expect to be better than players with microphones (unless they suck, of course). The game is called TEAM Fortress 2, there is no teamwork without constantly communicating with your team the whereabouts of yourself as well as enemy team members. The key to competitive TF2 is more teamwork than skill.

Tourney starts Sunday, September 12.

I'm not saying skill is more important. Communication is the most important aspect. Most of our team has microphones and the "teams" we practice against put up a good fight. I could choose to use the extremely shitty built-in microphone, but I'd rather spare my team the earrape.

So you don't want me on the team, then, right?

I think we could go a good amount in this tournament. Not anything like third place, but we could do decently.

When would the match times for this be?

They're all at noon PST on Sundays

I forgot to mention, everybody gets an exclusive in-game medal for just participating in the contest.

I use my character's voice commands to alert my team because I don't have a mic. I use command such as Incoming!, Spy!, and Help!.

I think teams have to include 10 people, 1 each class and 1 backup or something.

If this is the case I can play heavy or sniper (if you find a better heavy) [and no, I'm not a Natasha heavy]

Edit: I am an EFFECTIVE heavy, and I'm not spectacular in any other class. In fun games I tend to jump around a lot, but when it comes to taking things seriously I'm always heavy. So... I get first dibs.

I can play pyro or heavy. I say pyro because I'm the only fucking non W+M1 pyro playing tf2.

I'd be willing to play as a soldier or heavy, soldier because it's what I've spent the majority of the past two years playing, heavy because my skills at the other classes are mediocre at best, and heavy's hard to mess up.

I'd play soldier, demo, or spy.
I'll probably end up making a team for all of us without mics if no one wants us in, if not just for the medal.

That'd be awesome, Tom. Do it for the medals!

Okay, to revise myself a bit, I'll play Heavy OR Engineer, those are my best classes. So if a ton of people want heavy but nobody wants engie, i'll fill the spot happily.

I'll join (If I could do it with CEVO). I'd play as anything but sniper.

I am in CEVO and would like to do this at the same time is this possible? If you have said yes, i can play as scout or soldier wherever needed. if not, then I'll try to get another person to fill me in CEVO.

As long as the majority of the team has mics, it'd be fine if one or two people don't. I'll probably be building the team this weekend so be on or available sometime and I'll contact you.

I'll play, i can do medic, I'm a painfully annoying bow sniper(even better with rifle.), pyro, and maybe scoot if nobody else wants it.

I can help, either as backup or as engy or spy. Nobody seems to have picked spy yet.

Spycrab deadringer solocap sounds like an almost legitimate strategy.

Oh, and no random crits, plus stopwatch, I heard.

it's because i actually communicate to you as medic. since we are usually the combo.

the other teams do put up a good fight, but we still somehow turn out in the end.
