Saying what is OP, especially if you havent played in a while, doesn't amount to a hill o' beans. They change stuff so often, its always switching.

First off: When did I become the incarnation of everything bad in TF2?

Anyways I'll join in when Cataclysm comes, Troll Mage... or something mage, cause I'm no good with thinking I just press buttons to do damage.

Sure you won't raid just so you can walk around with a wand in your hand watching people die as you just hit x over and over?

Dude we already have 2 mages. Go something else that does a lot of damage, like warlock or druid.

Be the mage, you know you wanna. Walking incarnations of death to other players or lots of little things.

You know why they keep switching it up classes so diffrent ones are OP? So that you guys keep playing, its kinda like confussing the electorate with a war.

And since when are druids DPS? You must be in pretty bad shape if you have a druid doing dps, but then again I havn't played for a long time. The only time I can think that druids could do massive damage is when they re did the talent tree, and that lsted all of like a month that I was away, bastards.

Druids can do all 3 parts of the group based on the spec, feral is tank, resotration is healing, and balance is dps.
Paladins are also like this, Protection for tanking, Retribution for DPS, and Holy for healing.

But they can't do it well, well that is except for healing. Last time I checked at least, only thing druids were wanted for was healing, mabye a versitle final member for a party.

When was the last time you played? Back when I was still subbed (~a year ago) both balance and feral druids could put out pretty respectable dps, balance being wanted in particular for carrying both passive + damage and +crit for the raid. In terms of overall dps, a few google searches show that feral druids are comfortably hovering within the top 10 dps specs, while balance....well, they have their buffs.

Blizz really has done a nice job making sure every class has a viable dps spec to play with this expansion.

UUUUGH, YOU PEOPLE ARE ALL FUCKING MORONS FOR MAKING ME POST AGAIN

1: Beetle, if you have a problem with toasty then fucking confront him about it as opposed to waging an intense campaign of passive aggression. It's making you look like an idiot.

2: Boreas, if you've played you know a year is a really fucking long time for WoW game balance. All druid specs are currently viable. In the current version of WOTLK I'd gladly take a bear tank over most, and boomkins are as deadly as ever.

3: Also Boreas, NO, THEY DON'T FUCKING SWITCH BALANCE AROUND FOR SHITS AND GIGGLES TO KEEP PEOPLE INTERESTED, A NUMBER OF PEOPLE HAVE PROPOSED THAT THEORY, THEY'VE ALL BEEN PROVEN TO BE FUCKING RETARDS AND I'LL HAVE A DAMN HERNIA IF ANYONE ELSE THINKS THIS IS TRUE. The proof is in the fucking pudding. Go on elitistjerks.com, they're debating WHERE to put talents in trees as opposed to which trees are worthwhile altogether.

4: Toasty, don't be a mage, we've got too fucking many of those as it is and if we have one more person rolling on caster loot you'll all fucking implode with rage.

I skimmed your post and saw the word giggles and I went back and searched all pages thinking "When did giggles post in this thread?"

Montag, first I didn't say that the specs weren't viable, I just said their 2nd string, a druid won't out dps a rouge etc etc. Again this is is since last I played, but I can't see how that would possibly change drruids are suppose to be multi class, still its nice to hear that druids are more viable nowadays. However, more importantly your arguement with the yelling amuses me, mainly because you offer no proof. If you care to eplain your arguement further I'm willing to listen to your arguement.

Btw, hope you guys are having fun, I can't say I'm a WoW fan, but I remeber having some good times when I was playing with friends.

Anybody else think doghouse is addicted to WoW? The guy only got the trial and I can't look at my friends list without seeing him in WoW.

regardless, da, he plays relentlessly. I lost my ability to get addicted to MMOs after I ditched everquest when I was a wee lad.

Meh, I couldn't get away from WoW for about a week than I just dropped it somehow, now I play maybe once a month for a few hours. It tooks me 2 years to get to level 80.

I think WoW taps into that little part of everyone that is OCD. I mean why would people keep playing it, because they can never reach perfection for long, Blizzard will always release some shiny new armor or rearrange the talent spread so people will scurry off to redue their character or start a new. I'm not saying theres not appeal beyond that but I feel the people who quit it are probably like me in that they had fun getting near the top but once your there whats the point to keep playing? Again that is contigent, as with all games, on what your friends are playing, anything I suppose can be fun.

the whole point of WoW is to keep chasing that carrot on a stick. think of how awful it'd be if your character could actually reach a point of no more progression, personal or guild-based. you'd get to sit there and wait, which is why the people who burned through content uber-fast (nihilum) quit.

my absolute biggest pet peeve is when people make complaints about WoW that aren't WoW specific at all and apply to MMOs as a genre.

Your Peeves appear to be mounting there Montag.

Error does not compute, mmos don't have to be about JUST collecting things, many of my favorite mmos have had strong emphesis on PvP. Think of TF2 (since everyone here knows the game)......okay before the drops.... you got onto play a game, the only reward was playing it, because it was fun! Consider if TF2 consisted of nothing but you verses bots? Boring, at least after awhile. There is no carrot. Again I'm not saying some people don't enjoy chasing that carrot. While I expect them to do that as part of paying for the game, to keep it fresh that is with new content, I expect I want something more then bashing my head against mobs.

There's more to WoW than reward incentives though. I know I kept going for years because I enjoyed the people I played with so much. WoW's playerbase is large enough that it can function as a social network a la facebook, twitter, whatever, and that's a huge hook for many people.

I feel terrible for continuing to post.

Pvp is also carrots on sticks. you are grinding against human players to accumulate honor/arena points to get more gear, which eventually gets better/gets changed around/the carrot is dangled further out of your reach.

edit: MMOs are about fun, yes. but grinding is not fun, and MMOs are all grinds. ergo, fun must be implemented in MMO features other than the various types of grinds.

You only grind if your addicted to the game, if your not addicted you really only play for fun. Examples of this are people going into battleground to look for competition to fight against and test their skills. The storylines for quests can be fun to follow along with.
