Engineer Update Ideas

Here you can talk about your engineer update ideas. One rule before you do. Dont bash anyone elses idea, you could improve them. But dont outright trash them.



I have two ideas.

1) I think a crecent wrench or ratchet to replace the engineers current wrench, it would have a increesed build speed. but less damage dealt when hitting some one.

2) Another idea would be for a level 4 teleporter which would work both ways. rather than having an entrance and an exit they would be both!

The level 4 teleporter would make Dispensers useless though.

And my idea was refined in a different thread, so I'll just post the Email I sent to Gabe Newell.

Wow. I would like to see the engineer guitar in the update some where.
even just as a taunt where he just pulls it out and strums a few chords , or something.

Well, here are a few of my ideas.

(First being similair to Scott's first listed idea) A wrench that has been passed down from his father, (That is old, rusty, and has a little bit of blood on it) but builds faster, and does less damage. I'm not taking your idea though. D:

Secondly, a vending machine that would replace the dispencer. It doesn't give off much metal, very rarly at that. It gives out re-charges, such as dead ringers, Scout's sandman ball, Sandvich re-drop, jarate, and so on. (Brother helped my come up with that one day. Most credit to him. C:)

Thridly, a creamed gravy dispence. It gives you a 50% buff on health temporaly for the whole team (If they take some while its fresh :3).

And "lastly" I would HAVE to say that the Engineer needs some Bacon'. Just like the Heavy's sonvich. C: He diserves it for his hard work, and practical problem solving.

Ive been thinking about his guitar for his next melee weapon :o .Although I bet more than 2 or 3 people would think of something like this anyways...

A fishing rod, it would replace the pistol but however be used in combination with the Shotgun and Wrench in order to help the Engineer be oppressive. Engies would cast out there lines with alt + fire hooking on to enemies and reeling them in by continuing to hold alt + fire. From there the engie can fire shotgun pellets/wrench his victim to death, or if your sadistic you can force your victim off of a cliff/reel them up from higher ground in order to earn a hanging kill. ;)

Benefits: Trap enemies/Changes up Engie's offense allowing him to help the team kill players.

Disadvantage: Loss of range(you have to get fairly close to your target), obeys the laws of physics(Can get cutten off by the sharper melee weapons like Spy's knife and Sniper's Kukuri and burned off with fire)

Ithink the engineer update can add a wrench which can be upgrade faster, like 50+, but reduce its damage to other players, i agree with this. and also add a station that can like a motion sensor like BFBC2 can detect the enmy near by. :) :) :)

Obvious Stuff In The Video:
The something- Node that Valve trashed is right in the beginning next to the sentry, although it looks as huge as HELL.

Winning Propaganda Poster near the middle.

Torch and Hammer the engineer uses.

Non-Obvious Stuff:

You can just BARELY make out a helmet when the screen is panning over to the Engineer if you time a pause correctly. New hat? (Picture at steam forums thread.)

Flamethrower on the table. Didn't Valve say no more single updates? Pointing to Pyro/Engineer update? Is Valve going in a continuous loop with the updates since Pyro was the first class only+map update and wasn't a huge overhaul like the Gold Rush update? And speaking of maps, where's the Engineer's map? They usually at least HINT at the maps, but so far there's been nothing. If they don't have an idea, I nominate Toasty's map.

Blueprints on the wall behind the Engineer look like robot arms and legs. Along with the helmet, the Engineer could be build a Terminator. (Unlikely, but a man can dream. Picture at steam forums thread.)

Two small objects with red lights, one rounded and one shaped like a box (though, it could be, I don't know, in front of a box.), near the bottom right when you see the Engineer. ... I have no clue what to make of those except a side upgrade for the sentry you could augment on when it is level 3, or more Terminator-style propaganda.

'It's Your Turn'? This could mean any number of things. It's finally the Engineer's turn to get an update, we get to choose which items to find on what milestones like the scout update, most of the ideas for the Engineer update come from the community (Please, God, this could be my idea...)...QUIT FUCKING AROUND, VALVE.

I realized something, too. The coming soon is a reference to that video, since it wasn't added to the valve time list until after the video was released. Attention to details, my friend. (check the history)

My guess is May 12/13, because it's the same day steam on mac is released. Seems to make sense they would release it on the same day, for the new mac userbase.
