Dedicated Server

I recently downloaded the TF2 Dedicated Server thing on Steam and I'm trying to get it to work. I've done the port forwarding, but I don't know what settings to use or what to put in the server.cfg file. When I try to connect to it from steam, it says "You don't have this 3rd party mod installed". Help?

I have never got it to work through the steam service, but this is another way to do it. skip any steps you've already done.

Perhaps I'll try that after I eventually install Windows 7. It's going to make me do a clean install, so I'm not downloading any large files or programs because I'm going to need to back up my system.

That way is the same as the steam way, without the interface and mod. oh and it uses less memory and works better.

It says that the file size is 1.8 gigabytes on that, though. The files I got from Steam were considerably smaller.

It might include the things you need to dl for your server (updates(all of them)).
