My new computer

I have started buying things for my new computer. So far I have purchased the following: I still need a processor and a motherboard and i'll be in business. I am going to get one of the mid-range i7s.

So far I have spent $581.97. I will probably end up spending about that much for the processor and motherboard which would put me at around $1200 for the whole setup. Also, I know the DDR 3 ram is unnessasary but I got a combo discount by grouping it with one of the other things I bought so it was worth it.

I just don't want to have a computer that doesn't overheat all the time.

Yeah, I think that might be why mine seems to slow down occasionally. Then again I have a large ammount of junk on it. I have been debating whether or not I should just F-disk and start it from scratch again.

My fans stop and my computer shuts off when I am playing graphics intensive games. I checked the CPU temp after I powered it back on in BIOS and it was running at 212 F which is probably not good.

I keep a big oscalating fan next to my computer now to keep that from happening. I will just be glad to fix that problem once and for all.

I am also excited for that amazing 896MB 448-bit DDR3 graphics card and all that memory, even though my OS won't even be able to utilize it all. Maybe it's finally time for me to jump to a 64 bit OS...

I'd say. I wish I had the money and the patientce to build my own PC, I could probably build a pretty kick ass one. Unfortunately I need to graduate and then get a good job before the money will be open. Besides, once I graduate I can then get myself a pirated version of either ProENGINEER or SolidWorks and utalize my new high end CPU for work. I get so giddy with tech and modeling. haha

Wow, I haven't seen one of those in ages! Those are the computers that took 3 days to run a simulation that takes 10 sec. on any POS PC now.

first comp my family owned! my first experience with programming was with BASIC on one of these things! had the cassette drive to save data on. brutally huge joystick.
those Commadore monitors were great. well built and had all the ports in the front. nice and easy to plug in your game console.
