Upon investigating hard drive issues, I seem to have needed to install ANOTHER operating system (Windows 7) [Which is also not mine so therefore I have no cd key for] IN ORDER to get my current OS working again, Vista Home premium.
HOWEVER: in doing so, the operating system I have now, with all my important materials, is now deactivated and will shut down 14 days from now; December 28th. 2009.
I cannot for the life of me find a cd key. Help? Thank youse.

You don't need a CD key, you need a crack. Those should be easy enough to find for someone on your potential.

If you are going to have to install Windows 7 anyway, you should get a new HDD, move all your shit over to the new HDD before 14 days is up.
Then just keep windows 7 since it's better than vista anyway.

If you have any friends that are in computer courses at school they often offer students OSs for very low, like $15.

$30? PSH. I payed $50 for the Eidos pack on Steam, and that's the most I'll spend on something recreational, not necessary like an OS...
Btw, it's like $30 for Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit for an online downloadable ISO...

I just got an OEM copy of Windows 7 Professional for $130 on Sunday. The problem I found with most of the student deals where you can get Win 7 for $30 is that it was an upgrade copy. Wouldn't do me any good if I wanted to run a clean install.

Oh no, I absolutely know I can buy Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit for $30 as a college student, even an OEM DVD sent to my house...
but I'm cheap...

Can't you just torrent it, and burn it to a CD?

you're right, it was an upgrade, but it said it couldn't upgrade so it did a fresh install, erasing everything. so i guess it did what it was going to. now i can dual boot...with vista being one of them. whoopie.
