Who cares if tanks can disappear, the U.S is now working on getting rail guns mount onto there destroyers by 2010
as well as working towards the completion of there fuckin kinetic strike cannon

invsi tanks cant do shit against a telephone pole shot from orbit

first off, rail guns (i use the term loosely) are not going to be coming in the near future to anything, they require soo much power that mounting one on a destroyer would require the rest of the ship to be a nuclear reactor to power it, also they would have to replace the rails after EVERY shot, and they have to have pretty tight tolerances on the specifications to make it work and be accurate.

my mistake 2020
http://dvice.com/archives/2008/02/the_navy_shows.php
my point still stands i dont think a tanks ability to go invisible gives it the ability to survive a kinetic strike cannon

but until the u.s completes these products yes the brits have somthing
that gives them an advantage in warfare, to use against who im not sure

The OP has a wordpress blog and a Daily Mail (British Fox News, but worse) article as proof this will exist. Instafail.

ok. both these stories are total BS, however, i would like to point out that comparing railguns (or any other gaussian type weapon) to invisible tanks is an apples vs. oranges situation.

as mentioned, a railgun has superior firepower but uses up massive amounts of resources, extremely limited deployment and an obviously singular purpose.

the invisi-tank can serve any number of purposes in the battle theater, from firepower, to direct troop deployment, to communications hub/relay. the purpose of a tank is to take control and maintain control of a given area, on the ground.

apples vs. oranges

what is tactically more valuable, who knows.

The tanks have an advantage over the rail guns which is y i never compared them
instead i compared them to the kinetic strike cannon, which personally i find a much more freighting piece of weaponry

That tank is a spy! Seriously though, an invisible gun on wheels would scare me. The only thing about it is that you can hear tanks a mile away, so that kind of removes any stealth you had.

There's so much shit they'd have to work on, like the fucking noise of treads and machinery, plus the big ass dust clouds of tanks rolling around, not tomention the skullfucking boom of the main guns. Like a wise yahtzee once said, it's like having the power to be invisible but it only works when you play the trombone.

As for railguns? Please.....

I agree that having an invisible tank is pretty useless. It will be easily found out with the dust clouds, the noise of all its machinery, and the heat it gives off. Unless your in a hot country where thermal imaging is useless you will be able to see the tank even if its engine is off, it will either be hotter or colder than the environment around it. And as for the military jacket that works the same, I would say its pointless, all that electronics will just get clogged up with sand in Iraq and wont work anyway, they're as well having camo. And yes I am British and yes I am talking down my own military but sometimes they do silly things like making invisible tanks. Spending the money better would be a better idea.

The US does work very closely with the UK in many AOR's around the world and I'm seeing a teamwork application... Invisible Rail Guns... Wars over.
