You are involved in a terrible hunting accident. Your friend accidentally shoots you with his sidearm, it's probably just a 9mm, so the bullet only tears through parts of your brain, keeping you alive. On the way to the hospital, the ambulance gets stuck on the railroad tracks. Not good for you since a train is coming, but they get you out in time, and eventually make it to the hospital. After spending months in the hospital, healing and rehabilitating, you get home, and after about a week you start feeling ill. You die from influenza.
