I agree with Beetle in saying that a system like that would bring more people to the site.

Also, by giving level 1 admin to people with a few votes, you can see how responsibly they handle their new powers. If they are irresponsible, their powers can be taken away until they prove they can handle admin powers.

There's actually strategy on the funserver? That is a new one to me.

Higher admins can already put out alltalk votes and flip the alltalk switch I believe.

Sorry if there's another place to put this, but I couldn't find it and didn't want to start up a new topic just for this.
This isn't relating to admin, instead to somewhat the opposite, anybody thats on should have the right to start up a votekick poll to get rid of a douchebag that is pissing everyone off. Unfortunately that happens quite a bit when admins aren't on. So, for instance, there aren't any admins on and we're playing melee bash on the funserver, and look over the horizon, it's a spy with the cloak and dagger! Sometimes its alright when a select few like Celtic or (sometimes)Gabe Newell, since they don't make it impossible to find their location, but there's also at some point this newbie that joins and uses it, and his sole purpose is to eat away all the time in the match, and it works. Now you're probably saying that I should stop whining, people should just kill themselves or we could cheat like them and use weapons as well, but this is only one example of many, this is just the first thing that popped in my mind, though. So, I'm just asking for a votekick command that can be used by everyone, and if not everyone then at least the ones who are on the forums. Hopefully there will be someone that agrees with me. :f5hand: (this looks like a gavel or whatever it's called that judges use so I thought it would be appropriate)

(Unrelated to link's post) Add an sm_play menu for fun, using only TF2 sounds. Is there a way to make sure there is only 1 sound playing at a time? Or a timed limit, such as 10 sounds allowed every 3 minutes?

If the people on the fun server were responsible you guys could have nice things. Unfortunately whenever I give stuff to everyone (even vote kick) people just spam it all the time and innocent people get kicked for no reason.

Link, message me on steam and we can talk some more about this. Maybe I need to make a new admin group for responsible regulars that has stuff like this.

Very true, I never thought that votekick could really be abused... until that whole votemenu thing went on a couple months ago. Yah, I'll probably add you this weekend.

I got an idea for the votekick problem. At the start of a map, if there aren't any admins on, a vote pops up asking who to nominate/vote for as a "Volunteer Admin" for the map. They have votekick abilities, etc. Regulars will know who to vote for. Of course, any system seems to have the potential for abuse... but if a volunteer admin does poorly, people won't vote for him next map. I don't know if a plugin is available for this, but it would seem to work.

Instant Problem: Everyone votes for themselves.

Can't have order on the funserver, nooooooo....

Make it so you can't vote for yourself. I'm sure that's possible.

That, or only let regulars vote for the volunteer admin.

or, you know, we could let regs on the forums get the vote kick/mute command. and if they abuse it, they get it removed.

If I redid the admin stuff a bit I could make it so that people on the forums with more than a certain number of votes or forum posts could use votekick and votemute.

I'll think about that one.

I remember when there was a server-wide votemenu, and even the most regular of regulars would just spam the votekick to kick one of their server buddies as a joke. Stupid.

edit: Although if we made it clear that you could be temp banned for doing that stuff then I would totally make sure it was followed through with when I was on there.

This seems like it may be able to work.

I really think that's the main problem. People who do annoying things on the funserver either think nothing is going to happen to them or think they have some huge backing from other regulars on the server.

All the people that REALLY piss people off on the fun server think they are doing some kind of good by going against the grain and they think they have a huge following.

They don't.

Not really a power suggestion, but add in a private report forum where only the higher ups can see the threads in said forum.
That way, when something goes wrong noone will know who reported them and won't be bugged about it.

I think you can PM all mods. If you can't you can definitely pick them individually to add to a PM recipient list.

I suggest we remove things that alter gameplay TOO much, such as giving weapons and the Headless Horsemann. The admins themselves can't control giving themselves Valve Rocket Launchers and sitting in the spawn, or surrounding the map with Horsemen. I've been watching this be done for the past few hours. It just dosen't make it fun anymore.
