I remember reading the first book. Brother forced me to read it :l. Didn't bother reading the sequel or third though, Just because I had other things to do. But it was pretty great. Same with The Maze, But that's probably because I fucking love birds or some crap

Spoiler;
There are kats in the story.

rename thread "Ayn Rand is for tools"

ontopic: I've been reading a lot of In Cold Blood recently, and I'm find it to be pretty good (despite my usual aversion to "true crime" things) and I'm pretty excited to get to the end.

Did anyone ever happen to read a book called Shade's Children?

I read it a couple times in high school and it was cool.

I had to google "kids live in submarine in future" to remember the title.
So you now you know half of what it's about.

It's been too long since I've been able to force myself to read anything that isn't a textbook. But ironically, just yesterday, I bought Philip K. Dick: Four Novels of the 1960s at a Barnes & Noble, and I have every intention of reading it from start to finish. To break down:

Going to Read:
The Man in the High Castle by Philip K. Dick
The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch by Philip K. Dick
Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick
Ubik by Philip K. Dick

Want to Read:
Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace
On Writing by Stephen King (dubious)
Everything else written by Stephen King
Fight Club by Chuck Palanthiuk
House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski

Have Read:
The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien
Plato's Republic
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck
Dreamcatcher by Stephen King
Don't get me started on how fucking horrible Ayn Rand is.
