What I really meant was, too many people only know Pulp Fiction by seeing references in machinima's and such on youtube, Thus their immediate judgement is based on those individual scenes. Its too good of a movie for that type of malignancy.

I can't decide on one particular movie, like comparing apples and oranges.

But of all of the pre-50's films, my favorite, for sheer originality and precedents later carried on in film, is Potemkin.
Sure it's a Soviet propaganda film, but it's a damn good one.

The Green Mile, maybe Indiana Jones 3, basically a tie

But I also can't leave out my bro, Mario, so the Super Mario Bros. movie!

Basically anything Kubrick touches becomes golden. I love A Clockwork Orange, but I think 2001: A Space Odyssey is just a tiny bit better, but that's just me.

I don't think that works for a bro word. Gorbachev is sounded out as a lower case o while Brobachev would be sounded out with an upper case O, making two different sounds.

I saw The Good The Bad and The Ugly recently, everyone should definitely check that out. It works as a western, a satire, and a look at the Civil War pretty well. The version I saw had all the deleted scenes in the normal cut, so it bordered on being 3 hours long, which was way too long for the story, but other than that, really a lot of fun of a movie, and it's worth watching just for the finale and the Bad's introduction.

Well like others in this thread I couldn't just pick ONE favorite of all time. Instead of listing them all I gave my favorite from this year. So yeah, both.

My favorite movie of all time would have to be Nightmare Before Christmas

Then Alice in Wonderland (the cartoon and the new one) and Moulin Rouge. But as far as for this year, beside Alice, I enjoyed Prince of Persia, Kick Ass, The Hangover, How to Train Your Dragon, Shutter Island, The Bounty Hunter, Avatar the Last Airbender, and Get Him to the Greek. That's all I can think of......WOW there were quite a bit of good movies that came out this year lol

The Rock, The drunken master, operation condor, fight club, scarface, the godfather, goodfellas, and of course ALL JACKIE CHAN MOVIES and stephen king movies too

Aliens.

But if I had to choose a modern movie it would have to be either District 9 (alien immigrants? f*** yeah!) or The Hurt Locker. District 9 because it's such a cool premise and The Hurt Locker because it's the most realistic war movie I've ever seen. For those who haven't seen it, it's about a bomb squad in Afghanistan. This movie is so tense it's crazy. It is NOT for the faint of heart.

The Big Lebowski is a great movie. The Coen brother's are great. Fargo and Raising Arizona are amongst my favorites, and I want to go see True Grit, which is also a Coen brother's movie. But my all-time favorite is Pulp Fiction, by far.

I watched true grit the other day and it was just awesome.
