Server IP Has Changed! [5/9/11]
Hey guys so some of you know why the super powerful server was took down (Which I WILL NOT explain in this post and please the people who know about what happened to the server keep you mouth shut )(*cough* *cough* illegally owned server from the guy that was letting me use it). So we decided to move the server over to my computer which will be powerful enough to handle our current load.
The New IP: 98.249.231.150 (this will soon be mc1.calculatedchaos.com once I notify captain)
Temporary Server Specs:
2 gigs of ram
Intel Dual Core Processor 2.66ghz
Gigabit connection locally
30 Mb/s Download and 5 Mb/s Upload to the internet (Which is way more than enough to run Minecraft )
On A Side Note: Since the server that had 15 gigs of ram is now gone because of some issues (*cough* *cough* illegally owned server from the guy that was letting me use it), me and giggles plan on actually getting a physical server with a Dual Xeon 2.8ghz and 4 Gigs of ram and hosting it here at our home since we do have the network capabilities with more than enough bandwidth.. The estimated cost for the server is around $200 that we need from donations to get the server. So once we get the donation box open hopefully we can work to get a good "legal" server if you guys know what I mean
Thank You

One last question: Would You Donate Yes or No?

Depends on how much money I have and how much I can afford to donate . Essentially yes.

Wouldn't it be better to do what 98% of server owners do and just use gameservers or some other hosting for like $15 a month

Did you work out the electricity costs into that price as well?

Also not to mention servers from minecraft hosting companies are never "Truly" Dedicated. Because they actually pack as many as they can on one machine... But then again I can't speak for all hosting companies....giggles wrote:its easier to own the actual server and cheaper over time.Beetle wrote:Wouldn't it be better to do what 98% of server owners do and just use gameservers or some other hosting for like $15 a month

The electricity cost is also very true I need to look into that...

I updated the server address for mc1.calculatedchaos.com. Should be working shortly.
