Bioshock Infinite
Alright, I'm a huge fan of the original Bioshock. Less so of Bioshock 2, but it was still great. So when Irrational announced their newest game was Bioshock Infinite, I was overjoyed. And this is my thread about it. Here's the trailer-
It's basically Bioshock but with more steampunk and it's in the air. And it's in 1914.
Also, no Big Daddies. Something better.
I'm really psyched for the new companion you've got, and the tighter gunplay.

there's a preview.
I'm pretty psyched for this. I'm pretty sure it's going to be fantastic.

Re: Bioshock Infinite
I loved the orginal Bioshock, I didn't even bother with 2 though, I mean what were they thinking? Bioshock definatly did not need that sequal. Still I dunno, I have hopes for a new setting for bioshock, but I'm not sure they can make that lighting strike twice.

Bioshock 2 was made by 2K Marin, the first was made by Irrational Games, and so is Infinite, so hopefully they'll be able to work their magic.Boreas wrote:I loved the orginal Bioshock, I didn't even bother with 2 though, I mean what were they thinking? The only thing I'm worried about is the fact that adam is supposed to have been created in rapture, by Tenebaum and whatnot, right? But there are plasmid things in this game, so how is that going to be explained? The game takes place before WWII for god's sake, I need answers.

You're crazy. Yes, the original was better than 2, but 2 was still awesome. I just wish it had more secrets/easter eggs. There was this one part that had a teleporting tonic. That scene was pretty cool.
Also, the part where you're a little sister was sooo well done. I wish there were more parts like that.

I was bored of rapture about thirteen minutes into Bioshock 2.Beetle wrote:You're crazy. Yes, the original was better than 2, but 2 was still awesome. I just wish it had more secrets/easter eggs. There was this one part that had a teleporting tonic. That scene was pretty cool.

I understand the gameplay was tighter and some ideas were good, but making you a big daddy was such a horrible idea.
The plot wasn't nearly as good as Bioshock's.
I'm really pumped for throwing crows at people.

Re: Bioshock Infinite
I agree to an extent. Making you a big daddy didn't really change anything. It didn't make me feel like I was actually any tougher than the first bioshock guy. I could just go underwater, aka a slow motion non weapon version of a bioshock 2 level.

I'm judging that by the "Burden not Colombia with your Chaff" that it takes place in the sky among a bunch of rich elitist fucks.

You're new to Bioshock, I'm assuming? Cause that's basically what the first on was. I was kind of hoping that Irrational was working on a brand new IP, but this looks pretty great.Joe's Crab Shack wrote:I'm judging that by the "Burden not Colombia with your Chaff" that it takes place in the sky among a bunch of rich elitist fucks.

I'm assuming most of them go insane, so they're either that, out to kill you, or are dead.Joe's Crab Shack wrote:I'm judging that by the "Burden not Colombia with your Chaff" that it takes place in the sky among a bunch of rich elitist fucks.

Bioshock Finite is on the ground in Modern Day and Bioshock Eternity is in the future in space!
I think I have the company's plans already.

Perhaps you do something wrong to make the rich society want you dead and they hire mercenaries to kill you.BAMF wrote:I'm assuming most of them go insane, so they're either that, out to kill you, or are dead.Joe's Crab Shack wrote:I'm judging that by the "Burden not Colombia with your Chaff" that it takes place in the sky among a bunch of rich elitist fucks.

Iv'e played both, but i didn't consider them rich elitists, just people wanting to escape the moral and spiritual obligations of the real world which eventually led to them becoming crazed drug addicts.Riftoff wrote:You're new to Bioshock, I'm assuming? Re: Bioshock Infinite
I feel alone when I say that I think that BioShock 2 was better then the original. The characters seemed more of an appeal to me, and it was the only game I've gotten all the achievements for, because I loved it so much. I beat it 3 times to get all the achievements, and I've memorized every single corner, and its all completely detailed. The multiplayer sucks, sure, but im pretty sure they only did that to get the MW2 players or something.
Anyways, when I saw BioShock Infinite, I was so disappointed that you couldn't play Eleanor or some other Big Sister, to continue the chain. When I played BioShock 1, I loved the part when you had to get the Big Daddy suit, it made me feel more awesome in the universe. In BioShock 2, being a Big Daddy gave him quite a number of respect and fear, as no one wanted to be able to touch him or get touched by him. I hoped so badly in BioShock 3, the Big Sister would be playable, with a new 'thing' that would be the 'top dog'.
Probably wouldn't work with the story though, which is why they didn't. Sadly.

Big Sister wouldn't work for a lot of reasons...like being able to teleport around.

Re: Bioshock Infinite
I'm glad they're moving on to new settings, rather than continuing to squeeze as much as they can out of rapture. Though, this does seem like a bit of an extension, just with the "utopia" being in the sky rather than the sea...hopefully they'll be able to differentiate it enough to make it feel like a brand new experience.

Re: Bioshock Infinite
I can understand submarines not reaching that far down to attack rapture, but I better see some damned planes attacking this new city.

Re: Bioshock Infinite
I'm gonna be honest, this game doesn't interest me at all until I find out what ideology is being put on trial. Bioshock was, unsurprisingly, a game played for the story. Bioshock 2 was cool but still felt completely unnecessary, and the plot was lacking. Also, yeah, they're going to have a tough time explaining plasmids 50 years before they're supposed to exist.
regarding riftoff, bioshock wasn't so much a bunch of rich elitist fucks as it was a perfect libertarian scenario of a bunch of hard working selected-based-on-merit elitist fucks. That's probably why it was so much more satisfying to see everything go wrong.

They really should have just had the game take place a few years after Bioshock 1, they could say everyone got plasmids from Jack or something.Guy Montag wrote:I'm gonna be honest, this game doesn't interest me at all until I find out what ideology is being put on trial. I picked a hell of a time to forget to renew my subscription to game informer. Also, I really need to jump on the bioshock bandwagon. It took me like 2 years to get Mass Effect and even then I never bothered to beat it. Eugh.

Re: Bioshock Infinite
well, I got my GI on Bioshock Infinite a few days ago, and I'm impressed.
Looks better then the first, tbh.
The idea that some tonics are more powerful, but can be used less is a really good one. Another point I really like is the fact that some citizens won't shoot you right away, you have to fuck with them first. Getting rid of the radio conversations is awesome too, along with having Booker actually be someone. The warring factions also seems great, as long as both are equally distasteful and bad. "Him" and the Alphas are also great concepts. I think the Skylines have some great possibilities, but if they're clunky or something, shit would suck.
