Hey everyone. This is my first map and I submitted it to the funserver. It's not up yet but once it is please play and comment about it. I really don't expect it to be great (also not terrible), so say what is good and bad about it so I can change it or make another map better.

Just a few tips that is the general consensus of every tf2 mapper:

1. Avoid using non-TF2 textures in TF2. They don't fit the theme and take away from the atmosphere.
2. To take away the noobish purple/black reflections - put at least 1 env_cubemap into your map at eye-level. type buildcubemaps in console when running the map, then reload the map. If you have reflective textures near cubemaps you'll have to do the following extra steps.

in console:

mat_specular 0
buildcubemaps
(reload the map)
mat_specular 1

I'll definitely put in cubemaps for future lvls, but could you say which of my textures weren't tf2 related? Or were you just saying the blu and red metal didn't fit the stone/brick theme?

I was just letting you know. The brick textures don't look tf2. If they are, I'll just say in general.

To filter out any non-tf2 texture just type "tf" into the second dropdown box below the filter box (forgot the name) in the texture tool.

Since we're talking about problems, I wanted to add ladders but didnt know how. I don't think ladders are available for tf2, but how do you do something like the big stairs in koth_montag?

the highest possible step you can make is 16 units. If you make a step 16 units tall and 4units deep, and make it in teh shape of a ladder it will fool ppl into thinking its a real ladder when in fact its just a very warped way of making a set of stairs.
