The problem with giving low admins unban is they're new and more likely to abuse it, ie Random Guy decides to grief a bit, and is kicked by High Admin. Random Guy is a retard and decides to do it again, and is banned for a time by High Admin. However, Random Stranger met Low Admin on another server and Random Guy is unbanned and continues to grief, especially if Low Admin doesn't know what's going on and is too lazy to check.

So just remove ability for low admins to perma-ban, and cap it at a day or week at the most.

But then you would just unban yourself and ban the person that banned you, but that would start a revolt which would make all the new members ban you and the long term members from the funserver which would in turn make you ban them from the main server and eventually make this the main server forum with a separate funserver forum for the new members, which would start flame wars, which would lead to the eventual destruction of both the main and fun servers while everyone who doesn't care are on the Bad Company 2 server.

So let's NOT use Captain's plan.

There is a no dumbass rule on the main server for the most part. There are just too many dumbasses on the fun server for that rule to be effective.

i think any and all admin should be removed on the funserver except for moderators, therefor no stupid nonsense banning can happen unless its a moderator. which mods rarely play on the funserver.

Like you can remove the permanent ban from the bad spray logo and the ban player options.

Or you could simply allow all admins to undo bans... and only allow people to unban others of the same rank. IE only someone banned by a low admin can be unbanned by a low admin, but they cannot unban someone banned by a high admin.

If it is possible it should be considered. It's better then relying on the low admin's self restraint when dealing with assholes.

I agree with you Fat Elvis, either make all admins able to unban, or make it rank related, after all if low admins can't touch a higher admin then I'm sure there must be a way to make the ban work in a similar fashion. Or maybe remove permaban from low admins. I know how to ban for a certain amount of minutes thanks to tomm, but the last time I tried this it crashes the server everytime, as Fat Elvis and a few others will testify to (sorry btw Elvis I wasn't in the best of moods that day). I'm hoping it is fixed now as it would be good to be able to ban someone for like 2 hours or something without losing gameplay.

Look its a nice idea, but I don't think it can be added. There's no difference in the command to permaban someone and ban someone for 10 minutes.

Is there a way to implement an addon that BLOCKS perma ban instead? If the two are together maybe we can make some sort of filter or something that instead of a perma ban gives the target like an hour-24 hour ban or something?


I mean that's a much better option then relying on the self restraint of some of the admins here.

There's really no reason a low admin needs perma-ban anyway. Ban for 30 minutes, most of the time, they'll take a hint. I dare say, low admins don't even need that (say's the low admin who believes in democracy, even on the funsever. If you were comparing the funserver to the MAIN server, you're completely wrong on these accounts.

If you were comparing the funserver to some of the other bad servers out there,... I'd put them at about even.
