World Of Warcraft: 15 Million People Can't Be Wrong

OK, so I know at least a few people in this community play WoW, and a few months back I picked up the game after dicking around with trials and playing on friend's accounts. I've started a few Horde chars there, and apparently CaliBear is going to switch over to Alex and start playing with me. As most of you guys are certified "internet cool", this makes you better than average WoW player, and would be more fun to level with. So post if you're interested in starting a cC guild in WoW. We're prob going to be sticking with Horde to start with, but we may make an Alliance offshoot if we get enough people. We'll be playing on Alexstrasza, a normal Central Time server.
Getting WoW: The first time is always free
At the moment, I've got three two week trial passes. I'll be happy to give these out if you're serious about playing, and aren't going to be a dick and not use them.
As the next expansion is coming out soon, be on the lookout for discounts on the Battlechest/Lich King everywhere.

I'm interested, since it's a bunch of "internet cool" people suddenly playing a game that's either loved or hated. (it helps that I'm a huge RPG nerd)
I can't since my computer is complete trash. D: When I get it upgraded/replaced (Which should happen before the end of summer), I'll see if I can join you guys.
I'll grab that battlechest when I see it whenever I go to walmart or something.

Yeah..... 15 million people can't be wrong, except when they are. I joke though, I don't honestly have anything against WoW, its got a great world and setting..... however, the gameplay is very bland and generic as far as I am concerned. If you guys decide to pick up a MMO that involves more then fetch quests and npc grinding I'd be in.

I've played quite a few MMOs, and unless you like the spreadsheet-iness of EVE, then nothing tops WoW. Plus, its a ton better to level and explore than it was a few years ago. (And the new expansion is recreating all of the original vanilla world with better quests.)
@Phrozen: It's worth noting that WoW is ridiculously optimized and can run on pretty much anything.

No big deal, I was planning on replacing this 3/4 year old laptop anyway. I'm just short 4/5/6 hundred (I'm not sure since I'm out of town).

You didn't forget.
Also, I'll be transferring my level 80, and hopefully a 7x (i forgot). So I can help anybody who needs help getting started. Perhaps on the forums we could make a little WoW section if this all goes through

Oh, well now I feel stupid haha
Anyways, I don't quite remember how much gold or stuff I have on these accounts. And with this new expansion, with the level cap being raised to 85. I'll be a bit busy. However if we do make a guild and it starts gaining a few members, i'll put a guild allowance of around 15 gold a week for repairs and what not. As we level higher then i'll raise it because i'll probably be running heroics like crazy as I was before I had stopped playing last time.
Rift, what type of server is it anyways as in PVP or PVE or whatever?

We all have already had this debate on MMO's I seem to recall. None of them are perfect and they all have their own strengths. Its all really who you play with. WoW is pretty generic nowadays though, I mean it never really tried to be real diffrent, it just tried to do the genre standards as best it could. I don't see the appeal to raids though. And there PvP is far weaker then many others. I find it funny you criticize Eve for being a stat driven mess though WoW is always just a quest for new and better equipment with shiny now stats.

I meant "spreadsheety" as in overcomplicated.

I have a stagnant account that i stopped playing about a year or so ago.
Its undeniably a fun game, but it just took too long for me to level up. The highest character i created was only 39, and it took me forever just to get that high.
Plus i lost my burning crusade expansion, so i just stopped playing for a while. I may reconsider, but know i realize my character isnt as good as he could have been, and it may just be easier to start all over. Though the leveling, my god the leveling.

God damnit, my only 80 character is a dwarf on an australian server when I'm american.
Cocaine is a hell of a drug.
But what the hell, I'll start anew as a horde character on Alextrasza and be part of the guild should we make one.

Silly Brownbeard,
I can help you level up faster with hard quest that usually require hella people. Back when I used to play daily, I could level somebody to 50 in a matter of a week or two weeks depending on how much you play. Now with their new expansions, updates, and new things they've added. Leveling is much more easier, they built in a quest helper, and lowered their mount requirement. So basically I think level 30's can now ride mounts?

First mount at 20 (paladins and warlocks get their mounts on the cheap), epic mount at 40, flying mount at 60, epic flying at 70, Northrend epic at 78.

I'll think about reactivating my account. Since i cant find the burning crusade, ill start a new character from one of the original ones.

Isn't the game tied to your account, or did you somehow manage to the lose the game before registering it.

Also, you don't need the disk install if that's what you're worried about.

No i played the burning crusade, thats where my highest level character is. But my computer had a virus so i had to reset everything including the game. My account is stagnant with my burning crusade data, but i think i just have the regular WoW installed.

You can't have just vanilla WoW installed, technically everyone who has WoW has all the content up to the latest patch on their computer, just locked if they don't have any expansions. You just need to have the expansion packs registered on your account and the content is unlocked for you.

I believe you kept spelling Alexstrasza wrong...unless there's some weird cousin I don't know about.

Quiet grammar nazi. We don't take the time to go wowwiki and spell check it.

Example: I would never correct someone when they say "who" when they mean "whom." I'm not THAT smart. I only correct people on things everyone should know. Also, typos I don't correct cuz that's different.

9 out of 10 grammar experts agree that the common people should know how to spell Alexstrasza.

I used to play WoW. I capped at 39 and PvP'd till I realized I was doing the digital version of heroin. I may start playing again if only to hang out with you cool guys if we set up a night to all start up new chars.

Yea, I know, but it was Riftoff. That wasn't really bothering me like "there/their/they're" bothers me. We all have things that annoy us.

Because Calculated Chaos is generic and probably already taken, our guild name will likely be Maculo Meretricis, Adepto Viaticus (Fuck bitches, get money in Latin).

Nah, since we're all internet cool, we should just name the guild "Troll Bait", or "Maximum Charged Nerds".
Or we could go Latin like Riftoff said and name ourselves "Ignus Solus", which means "Burn Alone".
