Custom Maps Submission Polls: An unoriginal idea
Posted: 08 Apr 2014, 02:29
Since polls are working for the first time in roughly 4 years, since we now have active map officers like LaN, and since I'm going to keep trying to spur traffic onto these decrepit forums till the end of time no matter how doomed my attempts may be, I propose that every three weeks to a month or so, when time allows, people who normally never post here or who normally do post here irregardless post links to ONE (1) of their favorite custom maps they'd like to see get added.
All of the maps will get polled against each other if there are more than 5, which is probably not likely when taking into account the traffic we get here, and assuming all 5 (or less) of the finalists are not completely fucking stupid, each of them (or even just the one or two that outpoll the others) get added and we find a point of testing them and invitespamming our friends lists to generate traffic. If everyone considers a particular map especially good, it will be put on the public nomination list. If a particular map turns out to be especially glitched up or incredibly fucking terrible, it doesn't get put on nomination and gets removed. If there's big disagreement over how good or bad a map turns out to be, it stays off of nomination but remains on the admin list.
For consistency, we can make a habit of going through this process at least once a month and on weekends when we aren't holding some other spontaneous main server event, and assuming we keep at it into the summer months we would do it bi-weekly depending on how crowded it gets, as we actually *do* get much more activity, unsurprisingly, every year from late June through mid-late August.
Feel free to concur with this thread, make more suggestions, or call it fucking retarded/call me fucking retarded for bothering to propose it.
