FAQ How to Record Videos

This thread is dedicated to us finding the best, easiest, most efficient way to create videos for our Youtube Channel. So any method or ideas we can use that is available to everyone please post it and let me and the other users research it. Once the best method is found we will lock this thread and open the submissions thread. But some sample videos to demo your method will be appreciated.

Also when we find the best way to achieve what it is we want we will open a Tutorial thread that allows users to read and easily learn to do it for them selves.

This is one of the most important steps in this Process of getting our videos online, due to confusion on TF2 demo recording, file types, and other things. So its up to you guys to help solve this.

(Also if you personally have a method that produces quality videos/audio, but requires a capture card or something similar. Feel Free to still post your videos in the submissions thread, and share your method here.)

I still think we should use the Wegame Client

It's free, it doesn't take up too much space, recorded videos can be put on their website (automatically even if you want), and you can download the recorded videos in a couple of different formats right from the website

Yeah but are any ugly overlays or water marks present? If not try it for yourself and post a link so we can download and watch it. Because some videos lose quality when downloaded or ripped from a site.

There is another way to recored it with teh wegame and make it not sound like crap. Use Demos.
Just type recored "Name" and it starts and then type stop in console. Then type playdemo "name". Then use the wegame to record it so there will be no lag at all. But it will have some valve texture errors.

For more commands looki here

Remember:

We have a calculatedChaos source TV running on the main server. That means that if two people wanted to make a video, a third person could go to the TV server and record it with the ability to move the camera wherever he wanted to.

For what ever reason i cant get the camera on our Source TV to get off "auto direct" (or whatever its called). I cant get it to let me move the camera on my own. Are others able to?

i wanna try to play around with this Source TV for a bit. If it works good for me i might use it. until i can get Source Record in Console working, I'm force to be stuck with shooting through camera, which is a bit shitty in my case, but good quality nonetheless.

From what I understand, the latest update to the server fixed the issues that Source TV was having with the unlockable items not showing up. Recoding stuff off the demos should be a viable option.

http://www.wegame.com/download/

5 minute download, 2 minute install. Decent quality videos with sound.

Lots of demos there :D
Why hasn't it recorded in forever? Most old demos aren't compatible with the newer builds of TF2.

I had hundreds of them sitting on the server when they deleted all out maps and shit. I hadn't downloaded them and uploaded them to the web server yet because nobody really uses them.
