Unfortunately no.

These just fit together well, the statue also has a book, but...

The torch was kindof an after though, as long as I'm doing the hat...

Would be cool to have a flamethrower and shotgun replacement too I guess, but other than colors no real ideas how to tie them in.

I don't see why the wouldn't reskin (I hate that term btw) the rift axe. It's just weapon stats that are being reused.

And nope, all custom items don't have their own stats.

Mailbox is same as axtinguisher off the top of my head can't think of others. Golf club...eyelander.

The scout sword which is a promo uses a polycount items stats. They mix it up, besides if they do accept it they will do what they want anyway, I can only recommend what I think is good.

And in this case it makes sense that getting clobbered by a torch would light you, especially since it's pyro weap. And it's easy for them. Of course everyone will bitch about a 'reskin', but that's TF2..

But were those summer items made by Valve or by the community?

The mailbox was made by a guy at polycount forums. I think the golf club was too, someone made a gold set a long time ago.

I know the copper top was polycount and I'm sure the tam o shanter was the guy that made the club.

ok. I agree, it does make sense for it to be like the RIFT axe. Hopefully they are more creative than that :P

@Slider, I actually like it a lot.

---------
This is it for the day, I think it's really close. just over 3k tris (youch, am still going to add a gold flame to top with the gold hammer shader.)

Then I'll make an LOD or two. I've decided to skip alpha all together. Instead I'll just use the outside faces of the deco, then flip the normals for backside. And the handle will be 5 sided, instead of 9, and the top round will be maybe 9 sides instead of 16... I'll be able to break it down quite a bit.

Think I'm done, though I can't seem to get a normal/spec map working for the hat. I want the crown to be pretty shiny, and the hair to just have a little bit.

Added a few tris to the hi poly crown. 794 tris for hi, 584 for low.

The torch is a bit hefty. 3166 for the hi, 1598 for the low, but I have LOD set at 9 units and I think I'll drop it to 8. You can see a little pop, but the entire pyro is popping at the same time so...

Need to look into anims for pyro, kill icon and making a promotion page.

Not to be picky, but I feel the flame need to be a bit larger

Thanks, yeah, I might have to try that.

---------
dog was saying I need to complete the pack so I was mulling over ideas.

As for flamethrower I think just a partial copper/brass thing, but with the crown trim around the tip,
Call the 'Trial by Fire' maybe?

For secondary I was thinking auto shotty (slow melee, fast shotty). But now I'm thinking some sandalled statue feet. 'justice is quick'? or soemthing. That gives the pyro 10% speed boost.???

Also might want to change the name of the hat to something more fitting the statue. maybe something like "Lady Liberty" with the description "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free"
Think of me what you will, I don't give a crap what you think about me. Nor will i change to please you.

Yeah, I'll have to get some good sayings, maybe that'll work.

I did some research but there really isn't a lot outside of that saying and the symbolism of the statue itself.

It was erected on Oct 28th, which is friday this year... Probably about the time Valve will add files for Halloween... so I'm going to mention that when I submit.

Did some work on the feet. Textureing them won't be too bad, rigging and testing... Since the pyro doesn't have disconnected feet yet I think I'll have to use a base accessory, Like the goatee, then I'll have to make his feet transparent in the texture so his boots wont be in the way.

Well, gave up on trying to use the existing rig. Just created new bones, aligned the pivots with the existing bones, and copied their rotation values into mine.
The main issue is now it no longer looks like a 'skeleton' as the bones don't lead to each other, they all just stick out at random angles. Luckily no animating is required.

Now that I know they will work I'll get on to baking/texturing. The uv is already done.

For this test I just had to make a new tex for the pyro and alpha the feet, lol.

Maybe a miniature version of the statue itself for the Flamethrower? You'd probably want something more creative than that, though.

Hmm... Maybe instead of the Torch as the melee, make the Torch the Flamethrower and have the Melee be the tablet of laws the statue holds. A tablet would probably be easier to model than the entire statue, anyway.
Life is whatever.

It's just a print screen of the viewport. Which is set-up in non-aliased mode because low poly work actually looks better that way (clean pixels instead of blurred)

The pyro tex is all shifted because the imported model has uv's shifted to the side. I didn't bother fixing them because I'm not exporting it.

My models are only using mesh colors, no tex or unwrapping yet.

Unfortunately, I do not know much modelling terminology. I wish I could model, but I give up too quickly everytime I attempt to learn.

Fixed the pyro uv's...

uv'ed and did an ao bake on my stuff, and a simple color overlay, now details, figuring out which parts will be paintable, rigging...
All the basics in place, I think he needs some big loopy laces though. String for the nose? Would anyone notice it?

no string. most clown noses like that just hook onto the nose because of a slit cut in the clown nose....at least the ones I have seen.

But pyro has no nose.... for the slit...anyway

This is about done.

A few things I'm not sure to do what with yet though.

1-jigglebones for hair/flower.

2-skins. Depends on groups.

3-accessory groups. Currently the hair, nose, tie and feet are all one accessory. I figured the shoes would be seperate when we get a second slot. So right now the blu shoe skin doesn't work (shoes are one tex, everything else another, and as far as I can tell you can only skin swap 1 material???)

it's 3 256 textures. shoes, hat, accessories. But the shoe color mask is pretty rough, that might need to be 512.

Re: Original's Contributions

I'm done with the clown.
*All items are one accessory slot, except the hat which is hat slot.
*I pulled the headpiece further down on his head so the hair wouldn't clip as many hats. It only clips a few now and not too badly.
*Added jiggle bones to hair and flower.
* Darkend the feet to go with more of the original art style (less attention to feet), of course this is broken somewhat now with pink scout socks, etc... But I figured bringing down the tone would help. Also changed the main part of boot to black instead of white.
*I expanded the boots a bit so they encompass the original boots better (in case valve doesn't want to seperate pyros feet). There is a tiny bit of clipping on dead bodies, but that's all I could find.
*hat is 256x256 and 402 tris, the accessories are 256x512 and 1052 tris. So I'm not sure about LOD's. I guess I can shave the accessories down by a few hundred by deleting the shoelaces and a coupkle polys on the tie/hair. But is it even worth it?

Still need some names.

Image

Darn, had forgot about this, should I give him 'clown eyebrows"? I meant to do that earlier. Now the uv's would be a bit rough

If you didn't want the hair so low, you could just make the whole top piece a hat.
