Removing 'high admin'

Unread post by captainAngry »

High admin just creates problems. All the 'high admins' complain that everyone hates them and whatnnot and all the low admin think they should have more powers. The difference in powers is almost unnoticeable but people treat it like royalty.

The only real thing you get with high admin (other than unban) is the ability to slay people which should be reserved for people who have been around for a long time.

I am going to split the current high admins into two groups: people that should be root admins because they have been around since before cC (or a long time) and those that were just given admin for no reason. A few people will be 'demoted' and the rest will be promoted to root. If you can be trusted to unban people, I should be able to trust you with everything.

I'll come up with something special for donators but high admins will no longer exist. You shouldn't get admin just because you donated.

Everything else will be my discretion. People I have know for a long time already know they can talk to me and suggest other root admins and whatnot.

If donators have any suggestions for special stuff that they will get that nobody else gets, let me know.

You can set it up how I once had it on another community.

Certain special commands can only be unlocked after so much has been donated. And only for the month they donated.

Or, set it up how GMG has their Donator thing with that premium crap, just maybe without all those silly buffs they have in the menu. And replace them with the "special" commands you plan on giving the donators.

As for suggestions, is the admin system set up in that alphabet layout? Where the letter "A" serves a certain command while "Z" gives them everything?

You also get noclip as high admin :P. oh, and immunity from lower admins.

You could give donators a special forum color. Plenty of forums do that. Something neat that AxlsTF2 did recently is make a sprite show up above members like revenge would but it says donator. Its pretty cool, but not saying to copy it.

I have to admit, I completely love both of Beetle's ideas.

Perhaps green for donator forum color? :D

As for the powers, No clip sounds great, But I think perhaps only for targeting yourself. But immunity, well... Immunity from other low admins but not from Root admins. Perhaps the power to slap for 0 damage should be added too? Seeing as though we are able to slap for 5 damage.

On the other hand, I think permaban should be removed from all low admins via the Spray menu.

i think donators should get some "fun" commands that they can use. like gravity. its a tiny perk, not too big. cant "horribly" effect gameplay...usually.
so one day, i was on the server and i was trying to build a senty with tgame. i counted down "3,2,1,"then BAM. SERVER CRASH. then some pacman.

that's a bad idea, gravity's a crazy thing that can either make a game a lot more fun, or a lot more annoying

if you make gravity really high the game gets harder and annoying, if you make it really low people are flying around having fun and trouble killing other people

Most of the other servers privileges I have seen are related to giving the people who donate abilities that give them an advantage and the ability to grief (no clip, extra health, low gravity) or are based on regular people being restricted (reserve slot, immunity to class restriction etc.) I don't really want to include ANYTHING that effects game play or gives someone an advantage.

I am leaning towards AFK kicker immunity, reserve slot access (without removing it from other admins) and stuff like that. Forum badges and special forum colors is easy. Immunity from low admins is also easy and would be a nice perk.

Perma ban has been removed from the spray trace menu.

So this is why I lost half my admin during map switch?

Afk kicker immunity? There's such a thing? :D Omgawd. I completely second this motion.
Forum badge as in where it says "cC Member" or in your case, "cC Founder"? Would it be added on to it or replace it?

I think a custom entrance sound clip would be something you should do, cpt. I know you did it before, or at least SM did it. That would be the perfect perk for a donator. as long as its no longer than 5 seconds or so.

Holy Guacamole I 3rd this motion. Let's make it happen :D But Can we make it atleast 10 seconds? Nothing good really happens in 5 seconds :/

Err. Forum post and length ranks? Meaning how many post we've done but what is length ranks?

The problem with post ranks is that people could just spam the forums to get enough posts for admin. Not quire sure about post length ranking though.

I didn't even realize people COMPLAINED. And honestly, this is probably the stupidest thing to complain about.

"WHAA I DUN'T HAZ HIEH ADMEN"

You get high admin when captain says so. Deal with it or prepare to get gagged.

So whatsup.

Yeah like the above guys said I never even noticed people hating on high admins.

For donators I can agree whole-heartedly with everything besides gravity.
A donator can put it on but forget to turn it off and leave.

That's a horrible metaphor, unless Cc is metaphorically a pedophile and the community is metaphorically under-aged girls.
Also, admin is over rated. Really, really, REALLY over rated.

Happy 1 year boreas. :P forum join date anyway.
I suppose it is quite reassuring indeed. :D

On the other hand, this entire thread is bananas. I think people are missing the real meaning behind it, and only viewing the "HIGH ADMINS BEING REMOVED". There shall be no rabbling here fellow members. :D

I second (third? fourth?) that donators get extra "fun powers." Even if only on the funserver.
