im just thinking that possibly you have a map or maps with the same name, but different contents in the bzipped file. this would be due to the author updating the map, but not changing the actual name. ive had this happen a couple of times myself in TF2, as well as other games that use downloadable...

could it be maps themselves? have you tried deleting the offending maps? or the entire contents of the map dir? Haven't tried connectign this weekend (Becuase of members only) But the chances of having 2 maps that crash my game being the 2 maps there when I connect is unlikely. I'll try again when ...

I get random crashes like that all the time, but it never happens consistently. Perhaps what does crash it just never went away for you, did you try restarting Steam or your computer? Always seemed to help for me. And if not, there's always the easy way out by checking your game files or even reins...

It's still happening. I can get to the main screen, usualy where the MoTD shows up, but instead it crashes there. Maybe it's the MoTD? Has that changed recently?
